What do you think? I am rather liking it, fits the Biblical trend but not popular yet, easy to spell, short.

Only problem is will people pronounce it Job as in 'Job interview' or how it should be said Jobe? I noticed more people spelled it Jobe recently but I hate the e, it looks wrong.

sandberry what a good sport you are! Go on yourself and call him Job! I don't like it, but you clearly do so there we are. Maybe don't move to Scotland though... Grin

I actually love my name, patronymic and all! I am actually very proud of my dad becuase I'll always have a connection to my dad and family. Grin

I don't normally give a rat's arse about name 'meanings' but the story of Job is too breathtakingly awful to ignore. I can't believe anyone would consider using it.

fair enough, I've learned that yes it probably will but I've decided I actually don't care.
The poo association info was new knowledge and helpful and is interesting that I started this thread with a vague thought of Job, actually that's quite nice but now I am thinking Job is definitely the best name.

I've enjoyed all the comments positive and not so positive.

I could call him something else but what if when he's 10 I said "I'm sorry you don't like Leo because there is 10 in your class, I was going to call you Job which I really loved but a bunch of people on the internet said you'd have a terrible life with that name" and he says "I wish you'd called me Job" who knows how it will go.

I can't imagine Job would get much of a reaction to mine or his face, most people are too polite irl. I just really like it. It reminds me of other short names I like eg Max, Leo. Job has the slight edge on them because it is meaningful and has a message.

I love Job but dislike single syllable names in general. I have an Elijah and an Isaiah (Isaiah was born live on a MN thread funnily enough!). We're expecting number 3 in 6 weeks and are battling the next name out...! Best of luck. I think Job is lovely.; and he was a good man in the Biblical context. We considered Job when I suffered hyperemesis and thought the suffering would never ever end!

No just reality. I can show him this thread and explain how I thought about all the cons quite carefully and the pros and I thought he would appreciate a name rich in meaning and short and not too common and if he wants to call himself something else I'll happily call him that.
