Same name as someone famous

Is this a really bad thing to do? We have a fairly common surname, but my favourite name for DD2 who may well be DS2 would give her the same name as someone famous. Neither name is uncommon, think calling her Naomi if the surname was Campbell.

Is that a really bad idea?

I think the consensus is she's not too famous :)

I'm not sure about Lilian. Or Lilith, but that reminds me of Frasier!

I don't think LC is famous enough to be worried about it.

If your surname was Beckham, and you were thinking of using Victoria, I would probably say otherwise!!

You could marry someone and end up with a famous name if you took their surname.

(Or a rhyming one. I knew a Julie Bewley after marriage. Always made me smile.)

That is our surname venus :)

DP also likes Daisy, but I think it's too cutesy. Violet is another option. But Lily is my favourite!

Lily is a lovely name, and I wouldn't think of anyone famous if i heard it.
Sounds like a flower name: Rose, Pansy, Violet, Ivy, Holly.
are you just going for Lily or Lily Cole? I think I'd choose something else if that was my second name tbh.

You never know what that celeb will turn out like

I have a relative called Michael Jackson.

And I expect there are a fair few James Saville's around who are pretty unhappy

I'd probably use Lilian to get around this problem, but call her the shortened version in everyday life.

I have heard of her but if I saw it in a birth announcement I doubt I would make the connection. I would use it.

I dated someone who has the same name as a boy band member.

It has meant I've been unable to find him online/on fb as the other one always comes up.

You may see this as a plus or minus.

I think it would probably be okay. As both names are quite normal there are probably a good few people with that combination. And she's not super famous.

Hmmm, you could probably get away with that as she's not super duper famous. Personally I'd probably still avoid though.

p.s. my friend knows her a little and says she's lovely.

I knew 3 Elizabeth Taylors. It's a lovely name, they love having their name, Elizabeth Taylor is awesome.

It all depends on who the famous person is.
