Hello :)

We have about a month to go until dc2..
Our first is Ivy Beth... I love the name Rowan for a girl but wasn't sure if 2 similar names was a bit naff?? No idea for a boy, ideas welcome! Or girl ideas too if you think Rowan is horrific
Many thanks. X x x

River cam I LOVE Fern, it was my number 1 name but dh refused due to his hatred of feared cotton.. Grrr

Having the exact same issue here. I'm tempted to just force it through though.

I like Hazel, Birch and Larch too but probs not brave enough to use.....

happyzapper · 23/07/2014 06:27

I think they're fine together. I like Rowan on a girl.

APipkinOfPepper · 20/07/2014 19:29

Rowan is lovely - We considered Rowan, Bryony and Ivy for DD but ended up with a name with family connections in the end.

Rivercam · 20/07/2014 19:26

Ivy and Rowan has a nice ring about it.

Alternatives
glyn
Bryn

Romily
Fearne/fern

Don't choose Holly (the holly and the ivy... )

ashesandfire · 20/07/2014 19:19

Love Rowan for either b or g

ShadowFall · 20/07/2014 15:17

No, doesn't sound hippyish they're both too widely used for that.

gamescompendium · 20/07/2014 13:35

And I know sisters called Rose and Iris, everyone thinks that's a lovely combination so I'm sure no-one will think you are a hippy for calling your kids Ivy and Rowan.

gamescompendium · 20/07/2014 13:34

Both good names and go well together. I particularly like Rowan for a boy.

Rowan's lovely. How about Wren?

HillyHolbrook · 19/07/2014 21:58

I love Rowan!

We have two nature names in our family, Brooke and Summer and nobody sees them as being hippy-ish. Yours sound lovely together.

Happy36 · 19/07/2014 21:24

SORRY! I didn't realise. I thought I read some other comments that were on both names. Didn't mean to cause offence, sincere apologies.

Stretchmarksarethenewblack · 19/07/2014 14:31

Thank you everyone, Rowan it is for either sex!
Happy36, thanks but not really looking for opinions on my current child's name, sorry Beth isn't to your liking! It's my late mothers name

i have this problem. dd1 is called skye and it suits her very well dd2 is due in October and can't decided if i should go for another 'usual' name... like Autumn or willow and risk being branded a hippy. or got for something more 'conventional' like penny or Georgie. love the names ivy and rowan.

BikeRunSki · 19/07/2014 07:37

Rowan is a lovely name for b or g. I know a few of each, from 3 ish to 40 ish.

Not hippish at all with Ivy.

Kantha · 19/07/2014 07:31

Would second Rowan for a boy or a girl. Lovely name.

funnyoldonion · 19/07/2014 07:23

No not at all x
