Iona Joanne- any thoughts?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can share their opinions to give DH and I some food for thought please?

DC1 is due in Nov, we have chosen not to find out whether it is a boy or a girl. One of the few girls names we can agree on as an option is Iona. I am Scottish and my Grandfather spent a lot of time on Iona and Mull as a child so Iona is close to the heart as well as loving the name.

But we want to use Joanne as a middle name after our Mums, Anne and Joan. We can't decide if Iona Joanne works or if it is too o and a heavy. What do you think?

Reminds me if Indianna Jones for some reason. Like the suggestions of Jane also think Iona is a lovely name x

I absolutely love Iona. Iona Joanne and Iona Caroline Anne are both nice but I prefer Iona Caroline Anne.

Dc2 would have been Iona Jane but was a boy

However, we so rarely say all names together I'm not sure id worry too much I think Iona Joanne is fine esp as you have great reasons for using joanne!

Use the names you love seriously how often is she going to get called Iona Joanne. It'll be Iona and I do think its important second names have some sort of people who are important to you.

Iona is beautiful. The two together is too much on the vowel front though, in my opinion, and some of the subtlety of ions gets lost

Iona Jane is our girls name if we have. Iona came to me in a dream one night & it's stuck since then & Jane after DP's mum. We're having a boy so it's in the bank for next time hopefully!

My dd has a middle name in honour of her 2 dgms.

It doesn't really match well but we don't care since they had the same name, were both totally delighted, and my DM has since died.

She wouldn't have had a middle name otherwise.

We seriously considered Iona for a DD as I visited the isle when I was pregnant, but the bump turned out to be a DS.

Hatty, you may be glad to hear that DD2, should DC1 and DC2 be girls, is already named as Harriet Sarah/Sally with Hattie for short .

Bowler, I shall work on combining Bowler in too!

Sadly not Hatty, it is a very simple one syllable name but is also a word so sounds odd anywhere but second middle.

We do love it, hence desperately trying to make it fit . I maybe need to let go of the maiden name thing, I don't want to though really . She can just have 5 names!

Our other main contenders are Anna Caroline or Lillian Joanne.
