our deffinate girl choices but still undecided

Dont know what we are having for another few weeks yet but as I explained in my last post when I found out the sex I want to have it clear in my head what baby will be called its been driving me mad last couple weeks had so many names flying round and OH is hardly keen on any of mine where as I think his are growers. I have a really strong feeling its a girl was never wrong with my others but dont want to get too ahead of myself.

These are on the deffinate lists that we both agree on and wanting some opinions really as we keep changing our mind.

Alexia Michelle
Leah Michelle
Darcey Michelle
Sophie Michelle

Michelle is after his mum, Sophie is the only name we both put on our individual list but I just think its too popular its really putting me off Confused

We are going with Leah have finally decided.

We was seriously going to go with Darcey but you lovely ladies put me off, and after a convo with someone about Sophie as a choice she made the comment of how cute that name is, I always tried to avoid "cute" names with the other girls and dont think Sophie would of gone nice with the other girls name I have

From your list i like only Sophie Michelle. I am just not fond of other names( don't like names with sounds "leeee" and "xieeee" ((( Sophie is lovely and i think after few years you will see that there are many more girls "lee/xie" than Sophie

Darcy has 'arse' and 'arsey' in it. I would avoid it for that reason.

Sophie goes really well with Michelle. It's a lovely name imo.

How about:
Alexa Michelle (instead of Alexia)
Anna Michelle
Amanda Michelle
Anastasia Michelle

Olivia Michelle

Zoe Michelle
Eliza Michelle
Rebecca Michelle
India Michelle

I don't know about baby books -- I've seen many with 'Irish' names that are so not Irish names, and very dodgy meanings ascribed to names too.

At the age that children boast about what their names mean, they know no better than what anyone tells them, so you could send your child to school and tell her that her name means 'queen of the purple unicorns' and her classmates would probably believe her..

Leah is my favourite, a beautiful name which won't date as Darcey is sure to.

I've never heard of the singer, but unless your daughter is named Leah-Michelle the link with the singer is not going to be very noticeable.

Ive always known what ive liked so never needed one. This time ive struggled more because I have a partner whos been disagreeing with the majority of my choices. Ive been using forums for ideas and bounty top 100 lists, also checking out online birth announcements in local paper website

Did you never look at baby name books? Never? Really?

I don't watch Glee but am aware of the actress.

ive never heard of celeb called Leah Michelle until someone mentioned Glee!! I dont watch it so wouldnt know.

I have never checked what my other childrens names mean and so far nobody has ever brought it into question. I dont even know what my own name means, I just dont see why it matters im not one of these supersticious people

Alexia has a horrible meaning - without speech?

Leah Michelle is the name of a fairly well known celeb.

Darcey is awful

I'd go with Sophie

Name meanings do matter, children do talk about these things. "My name means princess what does yours mean" etc

Ok we are still stuck!!

We have decided on Caleb for a boy but the girls we are struggling with still.

Weve narrowed it down to Sophie and Darcey, he prefers Darcey and I prefer Sophie but I still have my concerns about popularity

Tbh im not really botherd about name meanings as long as its not something the child is not going to be told about it at every chance.

Ive only ever heard the name on tv, never met one or heard of anyone been called it

I have a 4 year old Alexia. Yet to meet another. I believe it means inability to read, similar to Claudia which means lame. Has never bothered me for a second Grin

Thank you for your opinions, I agree Sophie is a lovely pretty name. I do like Sophia but its a bit too fussy I think Confused

I also like Abigail but dont feel it goes well with Michelle

Lots of people like the name Sophie, because it's a nice name.

Personally I prefer Sophia as Sophie always seems a bit nickname-y, but down to you.

I've met far more Darcey's born in the last couple of years than Sophie's, it could be that Darcey will be a name that is clearly this age group, like I know lots of Clare/Claire/Clair's who are 33-37, but hardly any older or younger. Sophie seems a bit more consistent over the last decade as popular, so not quite so belonging to one group.

Sophoe is an elegant classic name. There are none in my D s' school, so maybe not that popular.

I read a site today that had top twenty name lists from around the world (babynamewizard maybe?) and Sophie was in the top five for nearly ALLLLL of them. Would put me off.

They are all popular names atm.

If you both like Sophie then that is probably a good compromise.

At least it won't need spelled out, unlike the others

I don't know why but I prefer Sophia to Sophie.

(Like I prefer Julia to Julie.)

Yet I prefer Alexa to Alexia.

Yes Lea Michele is a fantastic singer/actress and well known from Glee. My fave of your choices is Alexia :) lovely! (But I prefer Alexis ;) )

Leah Michelle or Sophie Michelle. I agree that Alexia doesn't have a nice meaning, and Darcey could be seen as dated in the future.
