Names that no one used in 2013

I'm not sure how long this full list has been out for but I always find it fascinating!

There are so many wacky names on there. You can really see language evolving (phonetic spellings) and increasing diversity (the Eastern European and African names) in society just by reading the list.

I was trying to spot what names are absent. It's quite hard looking for something that isn't there!

Since the trend on mn is to find names no one else in the child's class will have I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread on missing names.

These are the ones I've spotted.

Mostly what I'd think of as old fashioned names but some modern ones too.

I wonder if these will be trendy again in 20 years (hope not!)

To give your child that name in the week that ISIS were all over the news is at best ill thought out. Stand by my comment that this particular woman is both stupid and cruel though. Not all parents of Isises are, one would imagine.

Isis is the name of an Egyptian goddess.

Well I haven't had enough time to do the absent boys list yet Grin

The asterisks are Sad. I don't know if that's new, I've not noticed it before.

I imagine since England is 10x size of Scotland there will be names used there that aren't used here more than vice versa. But with then not giving every name then you can't know if your name is truly unique that year.

There are loads of people who don't watch the news or read papers and who won't be aware of ISIS.

I quite like the name so I think it'd be a shame if it stopped being used.

I also know a child Isis.

I also know a baby born in the last year with one of the names on the list. But we live in England, not Scotland.

Isis is always being suggested on here. I don't know any personally but can't see anything wrong with it. It's a nice enough name.

That absence list is quite surprising

I know a young Isis.

I'm surprised by Clare [what about Claire?], Janet and Carol - all very 'normal' names which i know adult versions of and it has never struck me that they are 'unusually old-fashioned' (unlike, say, Phyllis, which is a name i have only encountered in the over 80s!)

I think the 2013 list will be out in August, and agree about the fewer than 3 being omitted for reasons of privacy.

Thomasina and tamsin are missing too I think. Can anyone link to the uk full list (someone up thread mentioned it covers all names used more than 3 times) as I can only find the top 100 lists (and the most recent seems to be 2012)
