Suggestions please - what can Romy be short for?

Hi, I really like the name Romy for a girl. DP likes it too but only if it can be short for a longer name. He likes Ramona or Romana but I'm not convinced by either of them. I have read that Romy was originally short for Rosemary but this isn't an option for us. Please send me your suggestions!

Everyone says it's a lovely name...we do get the odd bit of Romany, rommy, romilly confusion. And a bit of Romeo/ roman teasing by silly school boys but generally the name is well loved.

I actually want her name to be just Romy as it is a name in its own right but i'm having trouble convincing DP. We've had lots of disagreement over baby's name so this is my attempt at a compromise but yes I agree it should be enough for her name to be just Romy - but what can you do?!!

Hello OP I just NC to come on and tell you...that's my dd's name! We love it. She's a big girl now. my Romey (with an e ) is short for nothing :)

BreeVDKamp · 10/07/2014 21:57

My dear friend Romina :)

Beehatch · 10/07/2014 21:56

Possibly a bit contrived but I have come across nicknames that work across 2 names, so Romy could be short for Rosalyn Mary?

fluffydoge · 10/07/2014 21:53

Why not just call her Romy? I hate it when people choose a name and then think that it has to have a longer, 'proper' name as well. If you like it then just leave it at that.

burgatroyd · 10/07/2014 21:52

Why not just Romy?

D0oinMeCleanin · 10/07/2014 21:51

Romany. No idea if that's how you spell it. It was the name of a girl I worked with years ago.

Beehatch · 10/07/2014 21:51

Ramona is lovely Smile

LauraChant · 10/07/2014 21:49

Romola, like Romola Garai?

seashellgreen81 · 10/07/2014 21:48

Not keen on Romilly as know quite a few Millies already. Thanks though! Any more suggetions? I just thought of Aroma but then maybe this would provoke 'smelly' playgrond teasing...
