I don't normally go 'oh nooooo!', but ...

... I just have at this birth announcement for a girl named:

Harlea-Rae.

I don't dislike it because of the hyphen (I just wanted to get that out there), but more for the mis-spelling of Harley. Which is a name I don't like anyway. And then it's hyphenated with Rae - nothing wrong with that, but it just doesn't sit well as Harlea-Rae, IMVHO. It's twee and ... just nah.

I had to share as there's no way I'm saying anything IRL.

Ooo - we have a reported Klamydia. Just awaiting the arrival of a La-a Hmm.

GiniCooper · 10/07/2014 13:29

I saw a Sofiyah-Lea announced the other day.

Why, people, WHY??

Germgirl · 10/07/2014 13:26

Higgle - or Frogmella. "It's exotic!"

YokoUhOh · 10/07/2014 13:18

Is 'Fortunate' a Nigerian 'grace' name like 'Blessing' or 'Patience'?

YokoUhOh · 10/07/2014 13:15

Kacper is the Polish version of Casper...

olaflikeswarmhugs · 10/07/2014 13:14

Howling at cack-per !! Grin

M27J5M · 10/07/2014 13:12

A midwife came I to the salon I worked in years ago after a nightshift and delivering a baby girl, the mum called it klamydia, but she said it was ok cos she spelt it with k instead of ch :/

Needadvice5 · 10/07/2014 13:12

DD has a friend called "Fortunate"

Just why would you do that to your child?

higgle · 10/07/2014 13:11

Jersey-Rae ? Why didn't they go the whole hog and simply call the baby Spudulika.

beccajoh · 10/07/2014 13:10

The one that sticks out in my mind recently is Kacper. I think it's a keeerrraazzee spelling of Casper, but I read it as Cack-Per.

Lottapianos · 10/07/2014 13:09

I know a Jersi, a Peechez, a Summer-Leigh, a Ryeleigh, and a Harlee.

Trazzletoes · 10/07/2014 13:08

An acquaintance married a Ginger-Lee.

Gingerly is bad enough, but obvs shortened to Ginge.

WHYYYYYYYYYYY!

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 10/07/2014 13:08

This sort of name is very popular around these parts. I also know a Jersey-Rae, a Jerzee, a Maizii-Rai & a Payton-Fai.

Also a little boy called Harlee-Jai.

You just smile sweetly & say "how unusual".

And I must admit, the snob in me wouldn't mind half as much if the names were spelt properly!

spiderlight · 10/07/2014 13:07

'Dairylea' has reminded me of someone I know through school whose sister has a little girl called Caramelia Confused

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 10/07/2014 13:06

When I worked on a maternity ward there was a baby called Rubee Rae.
Nothing wrong with the Normal spelling. Why change it to Rubee.

drspouse · 10/07/2014 13:04

I happened to be at the christening of a Madisen (I think - or similar misspelling unusual spelling of Madison. I just thought of Medised.

M27J5M · 10/07/2014 13:03

Lol this has given me loadsa baby names to consider hee hee NOT

Itsfab · 10/07/2014 13:03

Jelly -- Alaia-Mai

felinesad · 10/07/2014 13:01

Sorry breed not bread

felinesad · 10/07/2014 13:00

Jersey-Rae???? If I heard that I would assume it was a bread of cow Confused

Molotov · 10/07/2014 12:45

Ah yes, I am aware that Jai is an Indian name, and I know of a little girl name Jaiya whose family British Indians.

The little girl whose middle name is Jai are not Indian - of course, that doesn't mean anything: my own dds name is of Spanish origin and we have zero Hispanic heritage. But Jai was definitely spelled so in this case as a funky alternative, by the parents own volition.

I keep seeing Dairylea packages in my mind Confused

Jersey-Rae's sister is Cydnee-May. I shit you not.
What I don't understand is the Rae / May thing. Why not Rae & Mae or Ray & May?

IHeartKingThistle · 10/07/2014 12:40

I know a boy called Hendrix-Rae.

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 10/07/2014 12:39

Itsfab, what did they name her? Just learnt that lil Kim called her daughter Royal-Reign Hmm

Not a fan of Harley but to double barrel it just makes it worse.

Itsfab · 10/07/2014 12:28

Try hard. Looks silly. Makes the parents look silly.

Marvin and Rochelle have given their daughter a ridiculous name imo.
