down to two...

we're down to two names, baby due imminently!

Toren and Winston.

love them both, but cannot decide for the life of me. both go equally well with our surname. Winston would probably be nn Win, and Toren may be nn Ren.

made the mistake of telling my mother and she's now pushing Winston because she's never heard of Toren and it's throwing me off.

Winston, since I only like Torin spelled with the i.

nyldn · 10/07/2014 11:32

I'm not sure what "strangely" unisex means.... but pronounced tor (like door)-en. but kind of a bit between in and en.

it's a variant of Torin (gaelic) and we both prefer it with an e.

I was a bit more in the Winston camp (I have a unisex name) and I think Win is a great nn, but DH (who has an extremely overly used classic name) is a bit more in the Toren camp.

Ooh I like Toren. I've never heard it before, is it scandi?

Bowlersarm · 10/07/2014 11:24

Toren by far.

CroydonFacelift · 10/07/2014 11:22

Prefer Winston.

Never heard of Toren. Its strangely unisex sounding. And is it Torr-un or Torr-enne or what?

WhereBeThatBlackbirdTo · 10/07/2014 11:20

I've never heard of Toren but already prefer it to Winston

ShovettyMcShovetty · 10/07/2014 11:16

How do you pronounce Toren sorry?

BreeVDKamp · 10/07/2014 10:51

I prefer Winston. Only Toren I've ever known was a Torran - don't know if that's even the same name actually.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 10/07/2014 10:49

Another vote for Toren.

tryingtocatchthewind · 10/07/2014 10:13

I would wait until he's here, there's no need to be certain on the name before his arrival. We had three names and slept on it once he was here. It's not really like a small squished baby will look like either name but one might flow easier when you look at him.

I prefer Toren by the way but it's a close call as Win would be a nice NN

BearFeet · 10/07/2014 10:03

I'll vote Toren.

Theas18 · 10/07/2014 10:02

Winston is fine, Toren is OK and if it's yoiur fave go for it, but be prepared to always have to say " not Torin, Toren" , but it's not an insurmountable issue.

Hassled · 10/07/2014 10:00

I've never heard of Toren either (it sounds like a Norse God) and I love Winston. I'm Team Winston.

LemonBreeland · 10/07/2014 10:00

Toren definitely, Winston makes me think Churchill

Mrsgrumble · 10/07/2014 10:00

I woud go with Winton. I haven't heard of Torin?

IfUSeekAmy · 10/07/2014 09:58

Toren is so much nicer than Winston. Winston sounds like the name of a British Bulldog

Flywheel · 10/07/2014 09:56

I like Toren
