Does Sirius sound alright?

DS is due soon and still struggling with his name.
We like Jack and Sirius so thinking using both of them. Will it work?
Jack Sirius or Sirius Jack?

We also like David, Isaac and Charles.

We don't mind if there 2 or 3 middle names but we like Sirius in there if it doesn't work as a first. Oh, we have to get Jack in there as well.

PS. The surname is 2 syllables.
All thoughts welcomed.

It makes me think of Dodie Smith and the Twilight Barking, not Harry Potter!

I think it's a lovely name. Daft nicknames can be made from any name, so the fact this has one built-in (you cannot be Sirius) isn't a problem.

I actually really like it but I too have never read Harry Potter. I wouldn't let that put me off though if I really liked the name.
I think it is unique and beautiful but without sounding like you have made it up. Yes, he will stand out from all the Finleys and James but is that a bad thing?

Why would you not use a name just because it was in a book?! I've never read Harry Potter because I am an adult, tried, but it's a kids' book

If you love Hermione, Sirius, Dumbledore, whatever: use It

I really like it, and I don't know why but I have never connected Sirius with the word serious.

I've worked with an Aslan. After the first 'wow, cool name' it was just a name.

Hm. Sirius Star is the name of a cargo ship that was hijacked a few years back. This is the first thing I thought of.

The HP thing wouldn't bother me but the dog star would. ... not sure why as it should be a great name, just seems wrong somehow.

I did think of Harry Potter first as well, but on the other hand, it is a nice name, HP will be quite dated by the time your DS is a teenager, and since Sirius Black is a secondary character it might not be quite as obvious to his peers as it is to everyone on here.

I have friends who used Sirius as a middle name. I quiteliked it and am not usually one for out there names.
