Looking for help with a girls name. I've got a pretty common last name so definitiely looking for something a little less common in the first. We are avid travelers so drawn a bit towards geographic based names (but not exclusively).

Intersted in getting feedback on our current short-list..

Berlin Matthews
Emery Matthews
Alexandra Matthews
Brooklyn Matthews
Vienna Matthews
Leah Matthews
London Matthews
Aria Matthews
Xianne Matthews
Alisa Matthews

I like Aria :) xx

Nereida · 02/07/2014 22:33

I like Alexandra the best.

Rhubarbgarden · 02/07/2014 22:38

How about Venetia?

Onesleeptillwembley · 02/07/2014 22:41

Scunthorpe Matthews.

Jumblebee · 02/07/2014 22:48

None of them are really my taste (I have very boring taste in names) but I do quite like Alexandra and Alisa.

And I think, maybe, possibly Berlin would grow on me? Which is Shock because normally I'd never consider that as a baby name!

MummyBeerest · 02/07/2014 22:56

I like Alexandra or Leah.

wattlegirl · 02/07/2014 23:00

I love Vienna. What a beautiful name and it flows so nicely with your last name. I am hearing beautiful waltzes in my head!!!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 02/07/2014 23:02

Alexandra or Vienna

DailyWalks · 02/07/2014 23:15

Bernard or Stanley?

picnicbasketcase · 02/07/2014 23:18

Alexandra is my favourite. Is Alisa pronounced 'A-leesa' or 'a-lissa'?

rainbow9713 · 02/07/2014 23:19

I would be thinking also of what their name could be shortened to when they are at school or older etc.

matthe1 · 02/07/2014 23:22

Alesa would pronounced be 'A-leesa'.

Great feedback so far, keep it coming please!~

Vienna.

Guin1 · 03/07/2014 00:40

My favourites are Aria and Vienna. Also like Alisa and Xianne (where does that name come from? Xian in China?)

matthe1 · 03/07/2014 00:56

Correct, Xianne is a nod to Xi'an (my wife is Chinese). It's pronounced SHE-an. We know it would cause a bit of confusion for pronouncing, so a bit lower down our list.

Emery is lovely Smile

Poussay · 03/07/2014 01:13

Alexandra

Not keen on your geographical ones but for other place names what about India, savannah, Georgia, Sofia, Florence, Skye ?

BlueStarsAtNight · 03/07/2014 07:16

Aria is my favourite, I also quite like Emery. Maybe have Xianne as a middle name?

MrsBungle · 03/07/2014 07:19

Aria is my favourite.

Castlelough · 03/07/2014 08:41

What about Verona?
A girl at school with me was called Verona - it was so unusual and lovely on her!

Aprilray · 03/07/2014 10:47

I love Vienna! Want this on my list but DH said no.

manicinsomniac · 03/07/2014 11:50

Berlin Matthews - Not sure about this. I think I'd assume it was a boy.
Emery Matthews - Pretty, Really like it.
Alexandra Matthews - Love it
Brooklyn Matthews - Not keen at all
Vienna Matthews - Very pretty
Leah Matthews - Not keen
London Matthews - Quite like this
Aria Matthews - Love it
Xianne Matthews - I liked it when I thought it was Zee-anne. Not keen on Shee-ann
Alisa Matthews - Again, I liked it as Al-issa but not really as Al-eesa

I think I would choose Aria, Vienna or Alexandra. Or Emery. Oooh don't know - nice list!

Have you considered:
Briar, Brodie, Bronte, Ember, Ebony, Emerson, Echo, Eden, Alessandra, Alexis, Brooke, Valentina, Lyra, Luna, Lois, Larissa, Leona, Ayla, Arwen, Xenia, Xanthe, Alyssa.

Gingerjv · 03/07/2014 15:24

Vienna Matthews!!!Sounds amazing to me!!;-)

BlueChampagne · 03/07/2014 15:26

I'd go with Xianne given the connection - most people will only need to be told how to pronounce it once, and with so many spelling variants around for many names, I'm sure most people end up spelling them anyway.

Otherwise I would suggest Vashti.

neverenoughwine · 03/07/2014 17:24

India or Indie Matthews

Xanthe Matthews (or Xanthia)

Zara Matthews (I knew of one years ago she was utterly unique and cool!)
