Which is your favourite?

oooh tricky one.

Alexandra probably, lots of fab nicknames. Lily is lovely too though.

I like the nn Nell but not so much Helen the full name. I'd probably choose Ellen or Eleanor instead.

  1. helen - feminine but strong and classic. Not too common.
  2. lily - pretty name but a bit airy fairy - very common atm
  3. Alexandra - I'm not keen, but strong and not very common

Alexandra by far. Strong, beautiful and lots of great nicknames.

Lily is nice.

Helen seems suited to someone my age (38).

0dd · 02/07/2014 12:54

Alexandra by far.

Loads of Lily's about, it's a pretty name though.

Helen isn't to my tastes at all.

Alexandra is strong but beautiful. Love it.

NickiFury · 02/07/2014 12:56

Alexandra. My favourite girls name Smile

imperfectparent · 02/07/2014 13:02

Helen for me. Classic timeless name. With many names you can almost pin down the decade someone was born in. Not true of Helen. Alexandra would be my second best but I don't like it shortened to Alex or Ally. Lily is a no as it is one of those trendy at the moment names.

Thurlow · 02/07/2014 13:05

Alexandra, definitely - but it's one of the those names that probably will get shortened, so you'd need to decide where you sit on the Alex, Ally, Lexi, Sasha debate.

areyoubeingserviced · 02/07/2014 13:06

Alexandra- love the name

Holidayfun · 02/07/2014 13:08

Alexandra by a mile. Too many Lilys round here and strongly dislike Helen.

jessiemummy28 · 02/07/2014 13:21

Love Alexandra. I would have used Alexandra but it's my SIL's name! Helen is a classic but a little dull. Lily is pretty but completely overused.

HavantGuard · 02/07/2014 14:05

Alexandra.

Unless you changed Helen to Helena, then Helena Grin

BeckaH123 · 02/07/2014 14:16

Another vote for Alexandra! It's on my shortlist too.

DramaAlpaca · 02/07/2014 14:17

Alexandra

TempsPerdu · 02/07/2014 14:57

Can I be a pain and request Helena too? That would definitely be my top choice - lovely name.

Failing that, Alexandra is my pick - it's elegant and strong-sounding, with lots of potential short forms.

Helen would be next - classic, but seems a bit plain and frumpy compared to Alexandra. Lily is insipid and overly trendy.

ataposaurus · 02/07/2014 15:12

Alexandra or Helena - prefer Helena of the two.

Don't like Helen, sounds frumpy.

Lily is just ridiculously overdone.

ComeHeather · 02/07/2014 15:14

Helen. Classic. Grown up. Beautiful. Rare.

summerlovingliz · 02/07/2014 15:25

Alexandra, beautiful. Classy, timeless

Legionofboom · 02/07/2014 15:50

Alexandra is the best by far.

Agree that Helen is frumpy.

Nereida · 02/07/2014 17:20

Alexandra.

MyrtleDove · 02/07/2014 18:03

Helen. Grown up, not common but classic. Alexandra would be my second choice. I love the name Lily but she would be one of many in her school year.

Rhubarbgarden · 02/07/2014 18:34

Helen. Beautiful, strong name. Lily is everywhere and a bit wet, and I personally can't bear Alexandra.

hels71 · 02/07/2014 18:51

Helen is a good name (Maybe I am biased)
I would avoid Lily.there are so many about...

CPtart · 02/07/2014 18:52

Alexandra
Prefer Helena or Ellen
Definitely not another lily!

GRW · 02/07/2014 20:09

I have a Helen, and it's not very much used now. I like Helena too but it can be pronounced Helayna which I'm not so keen on.

Saoirseba · 05/07/2014 19:01

I was born an Alexandra and I changed it. I always found it annoyingly long to say even though my middle and last names are only one syllable each. It's "elegant" but I don't want to be "elegant" when I'm chatting with my work mates or talking to my friends. I vote Lily. :)
