What do people think of the girls name Thea?

Oh, and I would use just Thea, it is a beautiful name in its own right and doesn't need to be a shortened version of anything else.
Confused about why a poster above doesn't like the meaning of it

We have a Thea in our family who is in her mid twenties. Only ever met one other who was in her fifties.

I know someone with a 4yo Thea. She has told me that people often write it down as Fia or Fear !!

Love it. Would have been on my shortlist if dh and his entire family weren't unable to pronounce the 'th' sound.

It's ok but I dislike 'th' names, some people might pronounce it 'fear'! Also I'm not keen on the meaning.

I like it! One of DDs best friends (preschool) is a Thea.

Love it. Would have used it myself but a) I have difficulty pronouncing the 'th' sound and b) our surname has a similar sound (think Thea Frear or similar!)
Unusual and sophisticated sounding - lovely

Really JabberJabberJay? I haven't met any Theas. Perhaps that's something to consider. We're not deliberately trying to be unique, I just quite fancied something not quite so classic without being too pretentious or out there!

I didn't think I liked it, but had a very vivid dream about adopting a baby and changing her name to Thea (even though I knew I didn't like it!).

And so now it makes me smile Smile

Taya is nice. I did wonder if it sounded like it should be short for something but it's seems its fine as a name in itself. Althea is a nice suggestion also.

Love it. Know one - she's beautiful and clever, so obvs yours will be too. Also makes me think of Dorothea Brooke, of Middlemarch, one of the great heroines of literature.

Oh good, two positives so far! I really like it as its short, sweet, easy to spell and there won't be loads of other girls in her class with the same name. Definitely one for the shortlist then :)
