Nell, Betsy or Daisy

Which is your favourite out of the 3 ?

This is my first post on here & I'm due in 10 days with my first baby girl.

I'm really stuck on which name. Loved Nell all the way through my pregnancy but is it too short a name ? & I'm not keen on Nellie.

Betsy is cute too & Daisy seems like a nice but safe option & there are quite a few near where I live.

Please help !!

Really not too keen on the other names, though I do like Elizabeth and Eleanor.

Why not Helena or Penelope, which you can shorten to Nell? Betsy is sweet but I think it will date. Daisy is a nice name but every thrid child at my kids' school is called Daisy, and often has a sister called Alice or Lily - all nice names but they always have to be Lily S or Daisy W or whatever as there are so many of them.

Please don't call her Nell. As an Eleanor, I have occasionally been called this and a more inelegant drab name I cannot imagine. Sorry to those that do love it but it is a bit of a marmite name and from experience I plead with you not to saddle your daughter with it. I think it sounds on trend now but won't date well. If it were me, I'd go with Elizabeth nn Betsy as it gives loads of other adult nn potential too and is a pretty and classic name.

DD1 has a friend named Betsy (short for Elizabeth) -- they have been friends since they were 10. The name has aged really well. It was cute on a child and very nice in a retro way for a woman now in her mid 20s.

Nell makes me think 'knell', and Daisy is either too cutesy old ladyish or too Gatsbyesque for my taste..

I love Nell!

Go with your gut, not other peoples opinions. I wish I had!

If I'm blessed with a next time I will defiantly listen to my gut. And not discuss our names. (Although I will prob share on here lol)

Even with a short name you will still call her by other pet names and/or shorten or lengthen existing name. It's just what happens

I know about 6 Daisy's and don't really like it, too cutesy for me.

I like Nell best. I can't remember the other name.

Nell, if you think it's too short, use Helen or Eleanor.

Betsy but I prefer it short for Elizabeth, followed by Nell but I prefer it as a nickname for Eleanor. Daisy is nice but too cutesy and popular for me.

I love Nell , also really like Betsy (not much help really! )

DD2 was going to be Daisy throughout my pregnancy but was definitely not a Daisy when she came (even less helpful! ).

Nell can also be short for Penelope meaning you/she could use Penny if you get a change of heart!

Oh thanks for all your responses. Never knew it would be so stressful choosing a name. Always loved Nell but think my pregnancy hormones are making me me really indecisive & question everything argh !!!
