How would you pronounce Eirlys?

I'd only ever heard this pronounced one way, but recently have heard it pronounced differently (in a way that actually sounds nicer, but I think isn't correct!)

If you're familiar with this name, I'd be interested in your thoughts on correct pronunciation, and whether there's more than one "correct" way (regional differences, maybe?)

If you've never come across Eirlys before, I'd love your thoughts on how you'd intuitively say it.

Ayr (ay as in hay) loss

Fluent Welsh speaker, know a few Eirlyses and they all pronounce it that way.

Ire - liss is the nearest I can describe, but all the ones I know have been Welsh, and it's that peculiarly Welsh E at the beginning of a name that almost sounds like it's a bit combined with an 'A' too
If they are not going to be living in a Welsh community, it's going to cause a lot of problems with people not being able to get it right, IME

Eir I would pronounce to rhyme with hay with an r on the end ( and obviously without the h) - lys to rhyme with list but without the "t". West wales here

I love Eirlys. It's not my name, my name is Alice, but we have a Welsh family friend who calls me Eirlys, as a deliberate mispronunciation of my name because I loves snow!

My Mum's middle name.

Ire-liss with a very welsh 'rrr' in the middle. I loved it but my Mum always hated it so didn't use it for dd.....

it's never pronounced e-ri-lees by anyone who's welsh......

I've never heard of it before, but if I saw it written down I would pronounce it Air-liss.

My sil is from Wales, and it's her middle name.

It's pronounced E-ri-lees in her name.

Means Snowdrop I thing. It's pretty.

Yes, that recording is how I'd pronounce it, but with perhaps more of an 'ee' than an 'i' sound in the 'lys' - but only slightly. (S Wales)

I went to school with a girl named eirlys and it was pronounced air-lease (this is the only way I could think to type it!) I think it's a beautiful name!
