60s - middle name nearly always Jane, or variant thereof.

Popular names generally included Louise, Helen, Elizabeth, Claire/Clare, Samantha, Emma, Patricia.

All the boys were called Dave, Chris, Pete, Paul, Simon, John, Jonathan, Andrew or Nicholas.

Jane, Claire, Louise, Elizabeth or Marie (born 70s). Almost everyone in my all-girl class at secondary school had one of these - made me quite glad I didn't have a middle name. Agree with whoever said the equivalent now is Rose and May.

My best friend had the middle name Frances which I thought was beautiful.

In 1975, all babies, by law, had to have the middle name Louise. Even the boys. True fact.

Louise must be one of the most popular middle names ever judging by this thread. It also happens to be my middle name (1980s) and my DSDs middle name (2001)!

Like everyone else! - Louise, Claire, Jane - late 70s. James for boys.

Friends' 'modern' babies Grin - mainly Rose

I haven't spotted a trend in my class of 10 year olds, although William seems to be reasonably popular for boys.
