Finding it really hard to pick a boys name, I've got a little boy called Louie and thinking of Jayden for this one could be shortend to J or middle name will be Joseph as that's my dads name so Jayden Joseph could also be JJ. Honest opinions please :)

I do not think poor people have shit names and don't care for their children.

That is so far from what I have said at it is becoming ridiculous.

I have explained why I react in a certain way to certain names. People have responded with all sorts of nonsense, which does make me doubt their reading comprehension levels, such as I think everyone wants to be middle class or everyone called Jayden is shit.

If you could actually be bothered to read what I wrote, I do not see how anyone could honestly come to those conclusions.

I can only assume therefore that some people are bored and it's much more fun to try and pile in on an argument I never made to express righteous indignation about things I never said.

If you enjoy that, knock yourselves out. But don't expect me to respect your position when it is so demonstrably dishonest and unfair.

I have been in care and neither my name or my brothers' names are along the lines of Jayden. They aren't stereotypical middle class or anything either, they're fairly average names which anyone from most classes could probably be called. Confused

If we pulled out the stats on care proceedings over the last 60 years I am willing to bet big money that Jaydon would not be in the top ten.

Charles, Tony, Karen, Harry, Jasmine, Peter, Victoria, Joseph, Joshua, Conner, Sophie, Sarah, Rave, Donte, Ebony, Oliva, Jazz, Tommy

would all be there. Some of those names are totally 'timeless' and middle class.

I wouldn't go on any baby names thread and say 'there are kids in care called Jamie, so bear that in mind'.

Good post Antonius and I agree with it all.

Again, I am not and have never said children are taken into care because they are called a certain name.

Therefore I can't apologise for shocking or upsetting people when they decide to be shocked or upset about views I do not hold and have not expressed.

I'm very working class but I still don't like the name Jayden. For me it's like calling your child Chanelle. It's just personal preference. To be honest, it sounds made up.

According to MN my DS's name is both 'chavvy' and 'toff'.
It's one of my proudest moments.

Poor kid's CV will have to have a pile all of its own.

I like JJ. Not a fan of Jayden, but I like Kaiden? Although that would mess up the JJ thing. Jayden DOES flow well with Joseph though, which I like.

Spero I am really shocked at your post.

Of course there are children called Jaidon in care. My son was one of them.
But common sense would tell you that a. they are not removed into care because they are called Jayden/Jaidan and b. they are far outnumbered by the amount of children called Jayden/jaaaaydene who are not removed into care.

In fact in my borough you would find that the majority of children in care have traditional names or names from non uk cultural backgrounds.

How innapropriate would it be for me to jump on a baby name thread about a Joshua to point out how many Joshuas (for eg) I have seen who are in FC. People would think I was nuts

This jaiden hating is simply not funny on MN.

It is indicative of a very worrying undercurrent of prejudice. A prejudice that is deemed acceptable in a way that others are not.

It is short hand for sneering at the working classes.

I have worked with several Jayden/jaiden/jaden's

All from different backgrounds

I wouldn't choose it myself but I wouldn't assume something of someone who did choose it

Surely the wettest name in history is Crispin? I rather like a posh sounding name but no, nope, never. I've rather call it Baby.
