Finding it really hard to pick a boys name, I've got a little boy called Louie and thinking of Jayden for this one could be shortend to J or middle name will be Joseph as that's my dads name so Jayden Joseph could also be JJ. Honest opinions please :)

The Biblical name Jadon is NOT pronounced Jay-don, it's JAH-don (as the Hebrew form Yadon is YAH-don).

Do not mix Jadon up with the Frankename that is Jayden.

Lettice is a very old English name expat - 16th and 17th century old I think! I didn't think it was every used any more.

Is Lettice a form of Laeticia? That is a common name in Latina culture.

I know several Jaydens/Jadens, a Brayden, a Kayden & a Caeden.

They are all little boys who are no different to the little boys I know with more conventional or posh names.
They like being noisy, running about, toilet humour & pretending things are weapons regardless of what their names are.

As long as the parents like the name they chose & it isn't so awful that the child will get bullied for it, then I couldn't give a flying fuck what it is.

I do think its fucking awful that people judge little children for the name they have though.

Blimey DV people can name their babies what they like but when asked my opinion I will answer as above because the world IS full of snobbery and it is not going to get any easier to carve a career and earn a living.

When I meet a child called Destiny or Giles I don't have any negative thought about them, a fleeting thought that I hope it never hampers them probably crosses my mind though. So sue me.

TallulahdoestheHulainHawaii was IIRC a forename registered for an Australian (?) child a few years back Alis. A judge made an order that it should be changed.

I'm not sure if that case inspired MrsDV or if hers is a seperate genuine example or... Confused

And FWIW worth I think Jayden/Jaden/Jaiden is a perfectly nice name that has been ruined by unfortunate connotations.

My eldest child also has a name that would now be considered to have certain connotations (it didn't at the time I picked it) - I still think it is a lovely name but I wouldn't have picked it if I had known if it would become so loaded.

It s a perfectly normal, pleasant name.

If you don't like it, fine.

If you think it means a child is common you are a twat.

I've only met two Jayden's ever, both were at the time babies, would be late teens now. Maybe it's not popular where I live, so I don't have a preconceived idea of what one would be like.

I'm still stuck on Lettice being a name for an actual person. I know it was used in days of yore but I think I'd be a bit stunned if I met one now!

I am not even that keen on the name Jayden though it is perfectly fine but would be tempted to use it to challenge the stereotypes.

As for kids called Jayden being more likely to be subject to care proceedings, where is the evidence? Fairly recent high profile cases include children named Victoria (Climbie), Peter (Connolly) and Daniel (Pelka) obviously their deaths must be figments of our imagination. I don't even recall a high profile case of a child named Jayden.
