DH and I are expecting DD2 and my favourite name is Piper but DH is not 100%
What are your opinions on Piper? DD1 is Violet and my other possibilities are
Hazel
Tallulah
Felicity
Matilda
Ottilie

Thanks!

Eastpoint I immediately thought of Piper Perabo too. She's beautiful and comes across as a really lovely person so that's the kind of person I'd imagine a Piper to be!

Eastpoint · 25/05/2014 17:31

I know a Piper who is 17, named after the American actress Piper Perabo. The Ottilies I know are about 13. Piper's brother is Lion, they're a family who go for it name wise.

gatofeliz · 25/05/2014 17:27

Piper is a lovely name

TheWhispersOfTheGods · 25/05/2014 17:25

I love Piper. One of the few 'American' names I like.

From your list I also like Hazel, the rest not so much. Felicity is the only other one I'd lean to, but nn Felix not Flick or Fliss.

Andcake · 25/05/2014 13:45

Piper makes me think of the great character in charmed - sad I know. Prefer it to anything else on your list. Now I wish I could think of any of the other sisters names in charmed to suggest those to you

Piper alpha

There's a regional thing about surnames as first names - in Scotland it is not chavvy at all to do this.

I love it too. It's DD's middle name. We are in Scotland with Scottish accents so it sounds nothing at all like Pippa.

NigellasDealer · 25/05/2014 13:15

sorry but it sounds like a surname or made up.
Also pipa means 'vagina' in Polish and blowjob in Italian

WowserBowser · 25/05/2014 13:12

Love it. Like it with Violet too.

Locketjuice · 25/05/2014 13:10

It was my favourite name and wasn't budging for anything..but dp won when my daughter came out with bright red hair and his name suited her so much more!

TheHoundsBitch · 25/05/2014 12:22

Piper and Hazel are lovely, not keen on the others except maybe Felicity.

Trinpy · 25/05/2014 12:20

It probably will date but who cares - I love it!

Your other names would go better with dd1's name though.

TheGinSoakedBoy · 25/05/2014 12:12

I know a Piper, she rocks. Lovely name Grin

Onesleeptillwembley · 25/05/2014 12:11

Bloody awful.

SpringBee · 25/05/2014 12:09

Yes I love love love Piper. Also like violet :)

DoItTooJulia · 25/05/2014 07:03

Pippa! Not Phipps!

DoItTooJulia · 25/05/2014 07:02

Phipps is dull compared to your other names.

Love Otillie!

Guin1 · 25/05/2014 06:59

Agree with pp that Piper will date. Pippa is much better. Or any of the other names on your list (except Tallulah).

Rhubarbgarden · 25/05/2014 06:24

Really dislike Piper. Love Hazel, Ottilie and Felicity.

Youarejustwordsonascreenpeople · 25/05/2014 05:44

I have a 6 yo (nearly 7 yo) Piper and I have had nothing but positive comments about it. I love it Grin

burgatroyd · 25/05/2014 05:40

I love Piper. Odd but it seems much more trendy than Ottilie but I've only heard of Ottilie these last few months but heard of Piper since Charmed. There is an interesting article about a woman who named her daughter Ottilie but calls her Sparkle as the name doest suit. Try to get your partner on board with Piper. It doesn't sound like he's 100% on any names!

ThingsThatShine · 25/05/2014 04:54

I like it because of piper in orange is the new black! However I also like a pp's suggestion of pippa which I think is more in the style of your dd1 name.
