Am I being silly?

I have fallen in love with the name Bloom for a girl, I like flower names but they all seem very popular. Am I being ridiculous or is it a suitable name, I need a voice of reason! (Please say I'm not!)

Bloom as in Godfrey?

Rivercam · 23/05/2014 07:59

Valentina is lovely.

Alternatives:
Clementine
Seraphina
Primrose
Bryony
Penelope
Bethany
Rowena
Ivy
Dawn
Violet

burgatroyd · 23/05/2014 07:57

Pitch, none of those nn are as nice as Valentina, which is a pity.

PitchSlapped · 23/05/2014 07:51

I have just googled nicknames for valentina and there are lots of options - Valli, Vina, Vallen for example. If you are using a pretty nickname its very unlikely people are just going to start using Val or Tina

Angelto5 · 23/05/2014 07:18

Evangeline

Delphiniumsblue · 23/05/2014 07:00

Bloom is dreadful!
Valentina is OK but you do need to realise it will, most likely, be Val or Tina.

buttercrumble · 23/05/2014 06:47

Valentina is beautiful , Bloom is not very nice at all Smile

PetaPipa · 23/05/2014 06:37

Bluebell? But Valentina is lovely - I would go for that.

MaximoosesMum · 22/05/2014 23:20

Blossom
Fleur
Violet
I'm a jasmine...

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 22/05/2014 21:15

Eva Bloom Surname sounds quite nice but a bit like twosurnames together (which hides the wackiness that is Bloom as a name)

burgatroyd · 22/05/2014 21:14

Valentina is fab but not Val which is what it will prob get shortened to.

Gugglebum · 22/05/2014 19:40

I would absolutely use Bloom as a mn. Sounds silly with my married surname, but I would otherwise use it in the middle in a heartbeat. That said, I'd never consider it as a given first name.

Monkeyandanimal · 22/05/2014 19:26

it makes me think of creepy Mr Bloom off of CBeebies....

Valentina is lovely!

Sidge · 22/05/2014 19:18

I know a Briar which I think is pretty.

OneStepCloser · 22/05/2014 19:14

Valentina Blossom is lovely.

Casmama · 22/05/2014 19:12

I knew a lady called Bluma once - it's Yiddish - and she hated it so much she changed her name. Bloom is just as bad IMO.
Valentina is ok but she may end up with Val or Tina as a nickname so it depends how you feel about that

Viviennemary · 22/05/2014 19:07

Bloom is a totally ridiculous name. I don't mind Posy. What about Violet if you like flower names.

RoseberryTopping · 22/05/2014 19:04

Bloom is not good, sorry! I love Valentina or Valentine though, I wanted to call our DS Valentine but DP was dead against it :(

JuliaScurr · 22/05/2014 18:25

The Producers - funniest film EVER

I really like Valentina... Or Valentine. I was born on Valentines day and wish I had been given this name! There just be a good nn?! It would probably just evolve! How every I know 2 Verity's which never get shortened!

UriGeller · 22/05/2014 17:55

UriGeller · 22/05/2014 17:54
