The name Luna

I was planning to name my daughter Luna, but looking at the recent US 2013 name release, it is massively on the rise over there.
Do you think the same will happen over here? I wanted an unusual name, which I think it is at the moment in the UK. I'd kick myself if it was the new Isla, for example.

Thoughts please?!

I'm not sure it'll take off here. The HP association is very strong (which you might or might not like). And the name-calling potential ("-tic") might inhibit popularity too.

It's my number one name for future DD if I'm lucky enough to have one. Never met any and I love it although it doesn't seem to get a good response on here....

A significant portion of the US population speak Spanish as a first language or a close second. So names like 'Luna' will always be more popular over there. It may become more common over here (like Isla), but probably not AS popular. It's a beautiful name.

If dc3 was a girl dd1 was adamant we would have had to call her Luna after a children's entertainer at her 4th birthday.

Not sure what Im adding really. Have never met a little Luna here in the South East.

I know three Lunas under the age of two. One of them is in Holland, where it is a top five name.

My dog is called Lunar. DH is now regretting that decision as we clearly can't name the baby after the dog. We could rename the dog I guess....

as a parent of teenagers its very Harry Potter although I suppose for a child born now harry potter may not be relevant.

I think it's a great name, not popular in oz either. I put it alongside Juno, in that it's strong and interesting, and brave parents will choose it :)
