sibling name rivalry

Reading another thread here got me thinking... Have any of you preferred your sibling's name to your own or used your favourite name for first child and prefer it to that of second? Or visa versa.
How important do you think it is to have matchy sibset names?

I have an unusual name but DB has a top 10 name (but a really nice one). It is a family name though.

My DS has a pretty popular name but DD has a relatively unusual one.

My youngest Dsis has the nicest name, but I named her and I love her name.

My sister has a much nicer name than I do. Doesn't bother me. Actually, the only thing that annoyed me was knowing that my Mum wanted to call me Louise but that my Dad snuck off and named me while my Mum was still recovering. As a child, I loved the name Louise.

My brothers have okay names.

I prefer Dsis' name to my own, but she suits it and I wouldnt have. Id much rather my parents swapped my first and middle names round as my MN is rarer than my ten-a-penny first name.

I gave DD two out of the three girls names I loved when she was born, keeping the third for a sibling. They are very similar, but not silly sounding together, so hopefully one wont end up jealous of the other (if this bump is another dd).

My DH is the only boy so obviously is glad he has his name, but hos two sisters have vastly different styles ofnames - Im convinced MIL thought "this is my last dc Im going to just be as oit there abs possible". Especiallyas DH and his epdest sister have top three (of the time) names.

I got a dull 70s common, DBro got a dull 70s common, DSis got really quite unusual.
Like Claire, Simon, and Amoret.

Mum says she didn't really realise. Did people not think about names kind of going well together back then?

Btw we loved DD's name and still do. To us it is perfect. DD2 will have a nice name that goes fairly well with DD1's but we aren't as 'in love' with it as we are DD's name... Don't think there is another name out there we'll love quite as much.

My mum gave my sister a 'made up' name. Very unusual. She gave me a very common name. Think Katie, Sarah, Lucy... Along those lines.
I used to be so jealous as when mum talked about her girls 'dsis & nunya' people would remarks 'ooo wow what a pretty name' about dsis. As I have gotten older I am so grateful to have the normal name. She gets all sorts of weird pronunciations and constantly has to spell it. People who haven't met her think it's kind of an ethnic name or something (we are Caucasian) Plus she took her husband's last name when she got married and now her name sounds very ... Interesting indeed. Think along the lines of "Shaquilia Bolony"... What was DM thinking?!

I've always hated DSis2's name. Mine is OK, but very very popular for people my age.
