Flora or Indie?

Flora. My DD is Flora and I have never regretted it.

Flora is really fab in my eyes. But I also love Juno (the June but puts me off, but she shouldn't be shortened). Shame you're not having twin DD's, OP, Flora and Juno would be cool.

Thanks for the comments so far! I think I'm leaning towards Flora or possibly Juno! Indie has been discounted!

I like that I get could get the super cute nn Flo or Florrie from Flora!

I love Flora. I wanted it for dd but dh vetoed.

Agree with pp to use Indie as a nn for India or something else.

I really like Indie - as a nn. Don't think it quite pulls it off as a "proper" name though.

Could you choose something else that could be shortened to Indie?

Two v different names with different feels, I think! Flora is my dd's name and my all-time favourite. I think it's pretty, sassy, feminine and has a bit of edge to it too. The only person to mention the margarine is my mother! I wasn't about to let it get in the way of using such a beautiful name!

Flora, because it is a beautiful name with a bit of history behind it, eg Flora Robson, Flora McDonald. Also it will work when she is a sweet little toddler and when she is a feisty professor at Oxford.

In contrast, Indie is not a name, though it might ring bells as a nn for Indiana Jones, perhaps you like Okla or Wash also? I don't agree that Indie is a nn for India, I know a couple of Indias and they both always get the full name, presumably because it is short.

Give your little daughter a head start in life by giving her a pretty but normal name. Thanks

I like Indie as a nickname for Indigo or India, but Flora is a more classic name.

India definitely nn Indie. Also don't like Flora margarine!

If you're looking for similar sounding names I know twins called India & Eden (which I think is really pretty)

Flora is a lovely name, but to me s utterly unusable because of the margarine and its previous slogan "spreads easily".

India is lovely, and I see Indie more as a nn for that than as a standalone name.

I also like India, but to me, Indie doesn't have the same lovely ring to it.

Sorry, you said why. Um I love Indie because I think it could work for a girly girl or a tomboy and just love the sound. I do think I would probably use India though because I can't imagine a conservative lady in her 50s being called India, whereas I think Flora can suit all ages. Would probably use Flo as a Nn.

I told my mum I like the name Indie and she immediately started the "indie house, indie garden" jokes, that might be something to bear in mindSmile

I like Indie, flora also reminds me of the marg.

But everyone will always have different opinions on nanes it's hard xx
