Primrose, Daisy or Alexandra?

Hi all,

I've already asked opinions on Primrose and most were positive but I'm still not 100% sure so thought I'd see what you all prefer out of my top 3 names.
So which is your fave and why out of Primrose Daisy or Alexandra??

Please also add a middle name if you like. Options for middle names (all family names) are:
Lily
Anne
Anna
Mary
Sylvia

I was going to suggest Marguerite as a middle name. It goes nicely with Alexandra and is the French form of Daisy.

Poor old Primrose Shipman, she's hardly Rose West, she didn't do anything wrong except unwittingly marry a serial killer!

Alexandra sounds like she could rule the world, while Primrose and Daisy would be her minions. Wink

OP's surname isn't Shipman. Unless someone is thinking of Adolf I don't get why you would seek out bad associations with names intended for any newborn.

Primrose shipman doesn't put me off. I hadn't even heard of her and doubt the next generation will.

Primrose was on my list, posy for potential nickname... Before I came to my senses.

Primrose Shipman.

Alexandra has lots of nickname potential, Lexi being my fave

My sister was an Alexandra Mary, so that would be my favourite combination. She was always known as Alex (or Alexandra Mary when naughty).

I used to do it deliberately - I do quite like introducing her by her full name as she is so rarely called it, but when temptation struck I did enjoy saying "Alex" and just grinning at them!

I like Alexandra Lily!

With Primrose, Prim in hunger games actually made me like the name more as I think it's made it more mainstream. I know that would put some people off.
Plus she was a great character.

Alexandra, definitely. We have an Alex, occasionally an Allie. Never a Lexi! I hold out hope that as Lexi is currently in favour, when DD gets to school she won't want to change from an Alex to a Lexi because there will already be other Lexi's there.

Also, 'Alex' is a hugely amusing name when you have a newborn baby in a neutral babygrow and people ask their name in the hope of working out the gender that way Grin

Alexandra Primose is lovely.

Alexandra Lily would be my choice - elegantly pretty, with so much potential for nicknames (My own name is similar in that I've had different nicknames as I've grown up, which I've enjoyed/appreciated.

I have a cat named Daisy, and do think it's very twee.

Primrose is very pretty, but brings to mind Prim from the Hunger Games; not necessarily a reason not to use it, just what comes to mind.

or you could go for Margaret, nn Daisy and if she felt it was too cute when she gets older she's got other options (Meg is lovely).

Sandy would also be a possibility. DS always calls DD Ali, but we stick to Alex - or occasionally Al!

Alexandra might be the sensible choice but so what? Go for what you love.

Primrose is very pretty, you don't have to go for "prim" as a shortening, she could be a rose or rosie.

My dd is a Daisy (short for Margaret). At the moment she likes Daisy best though I call her Meg too.

Anyway, nicknames as they get older often have nothing to do with their names but come from characteristics or a daft in joke or something instead. A couple of friends of mine who were both called Rachel were known as Crazy and Lazy.

Oh yes, Ali is lovely too! I'm with you on Lexi, I always think it sounds a bit tacky. Sexy Lexi, ugh.

Sylvia's my mums name, it's beautiful but wouldn't choose it as a first for that reason.

Alexandra Ann is lovely Smile Alex is my favourite shortening of Alexandra too. Like Ali as well. Not keen on Lexi but wouldn't hate it if she chose to use it.

Wishful - I love that idea! It makes it slightly more feminine.
I do want to get a family name in there too as it's traditional in our family to honour relatives with mn's.
Maybe Alexandra Primrose Mary? Is that too long? Our surnames only one syllable beginning with F (car manufacturer)

I love Alex on a girl so would go for Alexandra. It's timeless, classic and works well on all ages.

Daisy is sweet if a bit too cutsie for me.

Primrose is dreadful.

I like Sylvia best of all though! Gorgeous name.

I've got an Alexandra Ann!

She's Alex but there's a massive choice of nicknames, which is always good.
