Hi, posted a few weeks ago with some name ideas and everyone was very helpful. I have finally narrowed it down to four...I know still too many!

Edith Grace
Eliza Grace
Penelope Grace
Esther Elizabeth

Obviously I'm a bit stuck on grace as a middle name!

I think my fave at the moment is Penelope but OH thinks this clashes with surname Phillips...I don't agree :-)

Edie is fine on its own if you like that?

PilauMice · 02/05/2014 07:15

I think Grace is very overdone as both a first and middle name. It's the equivilant of Claire/Louise for the late 70s generation.

Edith Elizabeth?
Penelope Eliza?
Esther Eliza?
Penelope Elizabeth?

How long is your surname? I had a friend called Elizabeth Alexandra Surname-with-8-letters and it was a bugger to get on forms so bear that in mind if using Elizabeth, esp with Penelope.

Eliza Grace

twinjocks · 01/05/2014 23:01

I love Edith best - goes really well with Grace both in full and shortened to Edie - and great with surname too.

mismylinford · 01/05/2014 10:56

Penelope is a lovely name and works well will Phillips.

Lancelottie · 01/05/2014 10:51

I find 'EdithPhillips' really hard to say, so I'd avoid that.

DillydollyRIP · 01/05/2014 10:48

Eliza or Esther. I like Grace with both.

skinmysunshine · 01/05/2014 10:46

I like all of them but Edith is my favourite.

funnyoldonion · 01/05/2014 10:45

Penelope then Eliza, Penelope goes fine with your surname x

WhereHas1999DissappearedToo · 01/05/2014 04:29

Esther Elizabeth is gorgeous

Wishfulmakeupping · 01/05/2014 03:15

Bit not but

Wishfulmakeupping · 01/05/2014 03:15

I like Edith best as a first name- it was on the list for my dd. Edie is a fab nn! I don't like Grace really (but boring sorry!) but Edith Penelope looks pretty good to me :)

ThingsThatShine · 01/05/2014 02:16

Eliza Grace

Definitely

Blueberrybaby · 01/05/2014 02:07

Any of them are fine, except Edith which makes me think of a spinster headmistress in a tweed suit with very sensible lace up shoes. It's very drudgey compared to the others. Eliza is the nicest. Penelope Phillips or Penny Phillips, if she decides to shorten, is absolutely fine.

Millasaurus · 01/05/2014 00:31

Penelope Grace is such a beautiful name :) My favourite from your list but they are all lovely choices.

Lucked · 30/04/2014 22:55

Eliza. Friends used it and I have grown to love it so much, I think it is a name I would have overlooked but I can now see that it is perfect!

Allalonenow · 30/04/2014 22:55

Penelope Grace is lovely and is my favourite by a long way.

Edith Grace would be my second choice.

Eliza is my least favourite from your list.

mymatemax · 30/04/2014 22:46

I like Penelope, but may take her a while to learn to say & spell :)

I do prefer Grace as a first name though

smartypants1000 · 30/04/2014 22:41

My favourite would be Esther Grace (wondering why not?)

NicolaOT · 30/04/2014 22:20

Thank you everyone!

Sounds like Penelope and Eliza are the favourites. I love them both maybe it's a wait and see what she looks like :-)

I know what you mean about Edith but I love Edie as a nn.

Eliza Grace or Penelope Grace are lovely. Esther Grace or Esther Elizabeth are nice too.

Not a fan of Edith at all, still an old lady name to me.

I can't see a problem using Penelope with your surname.

ExitPursuedByABear · 30/04/2014 21:47

Edith.

Pregnantberry · 30/04/2014 21:46

My favourite to least favourite:

Eliza
Esther
Penelope
Edith

Eliza sounds nice, kind of modern but timeless at the same time (given its Elizabeth link).
Esther, similar but less modern, makes me think of The Bell Jar - which is cool to me because I love that book but some might not want the connotation!
Penelope sounds too 'Lady Penelope' and frilly for me. Maybe your DD would grow to suit it though and I'm being short sighted!
And finally, Edith to me is the ultimate old lady name along with Gladys and Mavis and I don't think I will ever get past that, sorry. Grin

Thecircle · 30/04/2014 21:32

Eliza for me, goes beautifully with Grace and really well with your surname.

Eliza Grace Phillips. Lovely

starlight1234 · 30/04/2014 21:32

Eliza grace is m favourite
