Vote needed! (We are changing DD's name, need help with the MN's)

DD was named 'Greta Ivy Clementine'

We are changing her name to Flora, she is Already known by this name, suits it,and it is not up for discussion

I need help on whether to ditch Greta completely,or include it with her MN's.
I don't want her to feel like she's lost any of her identity as she gets older, and we rather like it,it was her name when she was a newborn (not that I often used it) so it does have a sentimental element to it, but her name will be incredibly long with it included,as we also have a double barrelled surname.

So,a vote please,if you will;

  1. Flora Ivy Greta Clementine

Or

  1. Flora Ivy Clementine
Thanks

Flora Ivy Clementine. Beautiful.

I could name a hundred with my names list

Could you share a boys one with me please? Due in 6 weeks and struggling! Think we have similar taste. Our DD's will share a name once the change has been made.

Morgause · 27/04/2014 19:30

Ditch Clemetine and Greta. 2 names with a double barrelled surname is more than enough.

Mothergothel1111 · 27/04/2014 19:28

Flora...the spread? Just seeing some abuse at secondary school. Greta is lovely, timeless, elegant.

samc820 · 27/04/2014 19:25

No 2 , I think better without

MadameJosephine · 27/04/2014 19:18

I vote option 2, lovely name. Glad you're happy with your choice of first name now, congratulations Thanks

BikeRunSki · 27/04/2014 19:16

No 2 is very pretty
No 1 is too long and awkward

funnyoldonion · 27/04/2014 19:14

Option 2, don't keep Greta in if it's just cos u feel guilty cos u won't in a few months x

LittleBairn · 27/04/2014 19:13

Just seen your last message in that case I vote 2.

LittleBairn · 27/04/2014 19:13

I think Clementine should be in the mix, lovely name but also balances out the short names IKYWIM.

FriggFRIGG · 27/04/2014 19:09

The other names aren't optional.

It's either no1 or no2

Just Flora Clementine, don't like Ivy and Clementine (two grow-y things) together.

God no,we already have 3 DC... Even if we did have more,I could name a hundred with my names list Wink

Ivy is DP's favourite,it's not being ditched.

Ditch Greta it's not very nice and 4 names is a lot. And bear in mind that any subsequent children will have to have 4 names as well (oh, yes they will- trust me) and it will get a bit silly. And you will run out of names and end up with Child 4 being called James Edward Asparagus Toaster or something just to make up the numbers.

Allalonenow · 27/04/2014 18:39

I'm not keen on the Flora Ivy combination, I'd get rid of Ivy and have Flora Greta Clementine. I think Flora is lovely.

Fairylea · 27/04/2014 18:37

Ditch Greta. In years to come you won't even think about it :)

Also F.I.G for initials are quite funny... even if followed by something else I'm sure everyone will nickname her Figgy when she gets to primary....

RAFWife12 · 27/04/2014 18:37

I would ditch Greta. Flora Ivy Clementine is a lovely name. With Greta too it's just too long I think. At 4 month, Greta wont really be a part of her identity yet.

FriggFRIGG · 27/04/2014 18:35

Hmm....and you don't all think she'll be psychologically damaged if we completely bin her 'old' first name?

I agree that Flora Ivy Clementine is the nicest of the two...and I suppose I'd feel a bit silly reeling off her name and then the reason behind it,and in turn she'd have the same dilemma...

Clargo55 · 27/04/2014 18:35

Option 2

moonblues · 27/04/2014 18:34

Flora Ivy Clementine, as long as your surname doesn't begin with a K. :)

showtunesgirl · 27/04/2014 18:32

I remember your original thread about her name OP!

Thematically, I would ditch the Greta so that you then get three nature based names.

CharlesRyder · 27/04/2014 18:29

Grin 2 then!

FriggFRIGG · 27/04/2014 18:27

She's 4 months,I could try asking,but I'm not sure i'd get a particularly useful answer..

CharlesRyder · 27/04/2014 18:24

How old is she?

My vote would be 2 if she is still a baby but 1 if she is old enough to know (in which case you may as well just ask her).

GlaikitFizzog · 27/04/2014 18:24

I like flora ivy clementine. Great is lovely but sounds harsh with the other names.

I was wondering what you went with the other day! Flora is lovely!
