I'm a teacher and have children with a wide range of names at school but I think Destiny and Foreva are the worst. Anyone else come across any other Just No names?

I also used to work with a guy we nicknamed Biryiani Hugs, because that was the best attempt at his name some junk mail could manage.

But that could easily have been true - there's somewhere in Europe (Italy maybe) where 'Guy' is pronounced Gooey. I knew a professor called Guy who was quite often fondly referred to as Gooey... I think it was a joke originating in someone's mispronunciation.

My own children are probably Boring, Old Lady Name That Should Never Have Seen The Light Of Day Again And Reminds People Of The Thatcher Years And The Nickname You Use Doesn't Pass the Judge Test and Trying To Be Trendy according to various MN threads. MN can damn any name if it tries hard enough. If anyone can find a name that meets with the unanimous approval of MN I will give you my 3rd born child not the 1st born he's the only one that sleeps.

Even the act of saying that name pulls the face down into a miserable clown mask of despair so god knows how the poor lass saddled with a name like that is going to get on.

And it rhymes with "Bored".

I've met some children with crazy names but frankly, who cares? They just become them after a while and it stops seeming so daft.

These threads always get filled with urban myths. I was at a baby group a few weeks after ds2 was born and the conversation turned to daft names. A woman trotted out the old SOL one (short for Stadium Of Light, we live in the North East) and I thought Hmm but since she was a teacher I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Then she claimed to have taught a Guy pronounced Gooey and I stopped believing a word she said.

The name that's currently making my DD snigger not that we're in the middle of watching the entire Star Trek original series or anything is DeForest. Deforest? Why would you call your kid 'environmental vandalism'?

I opened a bank account for a Kia (baby girl), middle name Sorrento. If you know your shit cars you'll know why that's a crap idea.

At my children's school there is a Boden. We're not in the UK so they probably have no idea but I cringe every time I hear it yelled across the playground. I also just met a Talon and when my daughter was younger there was a baby called Braxton in our Moms and Tots group Confused.

I love the name Jack, I think it's a good, strong name. But then again DD has a very traditional name. I don't lack creativity, I just love the name. Each to their own, really!
