I'm a teacher and have children with a wide range of names at school but I think Destiny and Foreva are the worst. Anyone else come across any other Just No names?

Teachers are just that, teachers. Not paragons of virtue.

Everytime I read these threads my first thought is about how bitchy and unprofessional some teachers can be about there students and their families.

I went to school with a child called Boyd and another called Dustin. They also had slightly humorous surnames. It only occurs to me as an adult that they were odd names.

Definitely in my "no" pile now.

Their are heaps of Braxton's in Australia due to the Braxtons' off Home and Away.

Their is a Saint Claire in DD's class, which is the name of a beach where we live, though tbf she was born in the USA.

or siblings being called Adam & Eve, Sam & Ella, Holly & Ivy etc

no to Adolf, Jezabel, Lucifer, Fox, Hero, Hades, Snake, Storm, Cloud or Anger

To be fair Mercedes is a legit name. The founder of the car brand named it after his daughter.

No real excuse for the other two car names though!

Yes sirchen. Gee is rather more like how I and various relatives named Guy would say it. It is difficult to get over what you mean with different pronunciations though.

Oh, and my sister in law has female cousins in Alaska named Mercedes, Porsche and Lexus. Yes, really! She kept talking about Porshe and I assumed the name was Portia. Then she mentioned Mercedes...

My aunt was a teacher in a small, very poor town in Texas. She taught a little girl named Je T'aime, pronounced 'jetta mae'. Another girl was named Syphillis, pronounced 'su- phyllis'. Her mother saw the word at the doctor's office and thought it was pretty. Another child named N'Dome, pronounced 'doe-may' (the N is silent). I think the mothers felt they were giving their children a special, unusual name that would make them feel special and stand out. Unfortunately, it made them stand out for all the wrong reasons.

I thought Guy was pronounced Gee (hard G, as opposed to a J sounding G, if that makes sense?) in French? Or did I imagine that?

Really? I'm a native French speaker and for me gooey (as in a really sticky gooey chocolate pudding) doesn't sound remotely like the French Guy.

Anyway I shall stop attempting to have fun with the poor woman coming out with all the urban myths in the book. Unless you want to try to convince me that there really are people who call their female child femahlee because that is how they read "female" on the baby's name tag bracelet or that femahlee is how the Spanish pronounce a perfectly normal name or something.

My Grampa was called Sydney Horatio, he was born exactly 100 years after the Battle of Trafalgar. He married a Doris.

I know a 25 year old Doris and it really suits her. It's interesting but not trashy which gives it points in my book.

No Erroll is was one of those stories about parents being so stupid they saw it written but didn't know how to say it. She also claimed an ex pupil called female pronounced femahlee because baby female had been written on the hospital bracelet and the parents couldn't read. You name the urban myth name story, she tried to claim in was a pupil of hers.
