Emiliana, Beatrice or Annabelle.

Just found out we're having dd2 (already have DS and dd1).

What do you think of the following:

Emiliana (nn. Emmy)
Beatrice (nn. Bea or Bebe)
Annabel/Annabelle (nn. Anna)

I cannot have Amelia/Emilia or Arabella/Annabella/Isabella/Isabelle, Charlotte, Olivia, Genevieve.

DH will let me choose but he has said he likes Emily...I like it but don't love it and know quite a few. I am a bit meh about Annabel and don't love Anna and can't use Belle as a nn....

Please rate names and also let me know if you can think of any other options.

Thanks!

Op doesn't like Anna

UnderthePalms · 25/04/2014 22:34

Love Emmeline. Emiliana is a bit OTT. Emu Loans = good choice

Onyabike · 25/04/2014 22:22

Yes, I agree Kundry, Emu Loans is lovely, although I'd worry there may be 4 others with the same name in her class!

Pregnantberry · 25/04/2014 22:20

I agree with pp. asking why not consider just going with Anna? I think it will work much better on an adult than Annabelle which sounds too frilly for me, I'm afraid. It also would sound out of place if your DD turns out to be a tomboy IYSWIM.

I think similar about Beatrice.

Emiliana sounds nice, but I agree with others that it is so rare that a lot of people will think that you made it up.

Kundry · 25/04/2014 22:17

If ever I have a DD she will be called Emu Loans.

AmysTiara · 25/04/2014 22:14

Annabel but I like Emmeline

Summerfever · 25/04/2014 22:09

I have an Emmeline (with a "leen" ending) and can confirm that the name often gets misprounced (both "lyn" and "line"). Also it gets continually misheard as "Emily" so be prepared to correct A LOT if you choose it - I personally find the confusion v annoying, and would probably choose a different name if I had my time again.

I think Beatrice is lovely!

Petal7 · 25/04/2014 21:55

Beatrice is lovely

phalanges · 25/04/2014 21:54

Lol. LOL at Emu Loans.

Agree - made up. Emmeline is lovely.

Thewhingingdefective · 25/04/2014 21:52

Emmeline and Beatrice (or Beatrix?) are both lovely.

I like the suggestion of Evangeline.

dannydyerismydad · 25/04/2014 21:48

I love Beatrice and Emmeline is really pretty.

Have you thought about Evangeline?

IHeartKingThistle · 25/04/2014 21:48

Emiliana is a bit odd.

Annabel is fab and gives a lovely choice of nns - Anna, Annie, Belle. Although of course she will make sure she chooses the one you like the least!

Onyabike · 25/04/2014 21:45

The pronunciation variations of Emmeline would put me off - also the fact that it will likely be misheard as "Emily" on a daily basis. Annabelle and Beatrice are both lovely.

mrsbug · 25/04/2014 20:01

Emma-leen

Montsti · 25/04/2014 17:10

I went to school with an Emmeline and always thought it was pretty, but met a guy a few months ago who pronounced it (his DD's name) Emm-eh-Lyn which I really don't like. Emma line also sounds quite harsh...I like Emma-leen though...

We are not in the UK and Beatrice is unheard of here and DH thinks it's a bit unusual compared to DS and DD's classic and well-known names....DS's name is top 3 (in the UK) but classic and DD is top 20/25 (in the UK). I think they all go well.

If it had been a boy, it would've been William.

Emma leen. Emmeline is lovely, and ms Pankhurst a great namesake. Emily also very very nice, classic and pretty.

Emiliana, at 5 syllables, is too much.

BehindLockNumberNine · 25/04/2014 16:46

Emm-eh-lyn is how I would pronounce Emmeline...

Montsti · 25/04/2014 16:41

Lol at Emu Loans - seems to be more popular than Emiliana ;)

Madamecastafiore - I don't like Anna enough to use it...

Tea1Sugar - yes I love Isabella, Emilia and Charlotte but cannot use them as they are my DD and DN's names!!

Ok so sounds as though Beatrice or Emmeline - how would you pronounce the latter, Emma Lyn, Emma Line or Emma leen?

Are any of your list of "can't haves" names you'd otherwise choose?

IHaveSeenMyHat · 25/04/2014 15:32

Emiliana is a bit too frilly for me, and a mouthful at five syllables.

I really like Beatrice / Bea.

maggiethemagpie · 25/04/2014 15:16

Don't like Emiliana - sounds like 2 names put together - but love Emmeline and she could be Emmy for short.
Annabelle is ok, Beatrice I just can't bring myself to like for some reason.

WolfMoon · 25/04/2014 15:14

If I have a third DC, I'm using Emu Loans Grin

BehindLockNumberNine · 25/04/2014 15:10

Annabel is nice but there are quite a few...
Beatrice is beautiful, I love love love it.

Emiliana sounds made up and a bit bizarre. I love Emily and Emmeline.

In fact, I adore Emmeline, go for that or Beatrice...

Twooter · 25/04/2014 15:07

Beatrice nn trixie. If you like Anna, why bother with Annabwl?

mrsbug · 25/04/2014 15:07

How about Emmeline?

I prefer Beatrice out of the three.

Don't like Annabel but I do like anna.
