Which name do you prefer - Duncan or Alasdair?

I have a Duncan! I love it, he goes by nn Dunc or sometimes Funky Dunky Grin

Do expect Duncan Donuts, Duncan Disorderly....

Don't like gaelic spellings so Alastair or Alistair is better in my opinion.

Both are quite old-fashioned and uncommon nowadays but make a nice name from the daft names most kids seem to be called

Duncan - cool, strong, underused and easy to spell.

Alistair, Alastair, Alasdsair, Alisdair sounds feminine (Alice?) and people might misspell it.

The Alasdair I know is called Ally by his mates/ work, but he still is and always will be Alasdair in the family, too beautiful a name to shorten IMO. It was a lovely name for a baby, toddler, little boy, teenager, grown man. In England and he does have to live with people mis-spelling it but that's not a big deal to him.

Alasdair, although I prefer it with a T. I disagree that all Alastairs are nn'd Ali. I've known 3 and none have been shortened. Ok so it's not a massive straw poll, but just saying!
