Found out we're having a girl - overjoyed but now comes along the endless choice from so many names. I like unusual/uncommon but easily spelt/pronounced names. Have a very bog standard surname which goes with everything. Here are some that I like - opinions please and would welcome other suggestions

Sadie
Claudia
Juliet
Sylvia
Veronica
Arietta
Allegra
Alba
Delila
Elsa
Monica
Lana

Alba is lovely but only of Scottish.

LittleBairn · 27/04/2014 19:44

What about Elise instead of Elsa.

ViviPru · 27/04/2014 19:37

Oh please don't tell me Sylvie is the next Amelia. That was my secret no-one-knows-about-it top trump name Sad

Mrsindecision · 27/04/2014 13:52

Love delila(h) and still upset 21 months later that my dd is not called this!.

Love Elsa, never seen frozen so I think of Elsa Pataky (no bad thing)

notadoctor · 27/04/2014 05:54

I love Sadie and Sylvia. Cordelia is a great suggestion. I like Elsa, Claudia and Juliet too.

How about Connie, Esme, Nancy, Hazel?

mathanxiety · 27/04/2014 05:40

Sadie -- I like but would use Sarah on the BC
Claudia -- nice
Juliet -- love
Sylvia -- like a lot, and also like Sylvie a lot.
Veronica -- like a lot. Also like Vanessa very much.
Arietta -- dislike. Sounds like Harriet with Cockney accent.
Allegra -- dislike. Name of car or allergy meds.
Alba -- dislike
Delila -- like
Elsa -- love - the movie will be old hat before she is two.
Monica -- like a lot
Lana -- Too Hollywood siren for my taste.

So in order from your list, plus suggestions:
Juliet
Elsa
Vanessa
Sylvia/Sylvie
Sadie
Claudia
Delilah
Veronica
Monica

hungrybadger · 25/04/2014 15:38

I only like Claudia from your list.

Other ideas:

I'm not a fan of unusual names I'm afraid.

Astrid
Iris
Evelyn/Evie
Sienna

Just some more options. Because you don't have enough already! Grin

juneau oh silly me, thank you! It looks a lot better with the 'h'.

MadameJosephine I like Julia but do think it's just a little bit boring.

I haven't actually seen Frozen (facepalm) so didn't know the character Elsa!! Think I will probably drop that, it's so beautiful though.

Thanks for all the suggestions, feeding these to my DH as I type Confused Grin !!

Also I like Elsa but it's too Frozen I'm afraid.

Driveway · 22/04/2014 19:10

Love Juliet Sylvia and Claudia.

juneau · 22/04/2014 18:37

Delilah (with an 'h')

MadameJosephine · 22/04/2014 18:21

Love Sadie and Claudia. I prefer Julia to Juliet, also love Joanna ( ever notice how an extra 'a' adds the extra poshness factor? I don't like Julie or Joanne but add the 'a' and I love them!)

SimoneThompson · 22/04/2014 15:28

I like Juliet because of I'm a Shakespeare buff, but I think if I were naming my kid after a Shakespear character it would be called Ariel or Miranda(The Tempest), but, then again, my middle name is Miranda, so I would think that.

I think Eris is a nice name, after the Greek goddess of Dischord. I have a Siberian Husky called Eris, and she competes in CruftsSmile

TenMinutesEarly · 20/04/2014 23:17

Sadie or Sylvie (not Sylvia)

Ruprekt · 20/04/2014 23:17

Love Claudia Juliet from your list.

MakeUpVirgin I love Cordelia!

About Juliet - I adore it but I'm imagining endless Romeo and Juliet references ... Hmm
