Our daughter is one week old. Please help us chose from this shortlist. Other suggestions welcome too..

Ida
Matilda
Phoebe
Claudia

We have probably already crossed off Vivienne and Florence from the shortlist.

Middle name we like is Rose. Again, other middle name suggestions welcome.

Thank you all so much for replying. My DH is blown away by how lovely everyone is.

Ida Rose is definitely front runner so we are going to try it out for a few days before announcing.

Really like Claudia. Congratulations!

Wishfulmakeupping · 19/04/2014 19:15

Ada is lovely too

YouGrateMyCheese · 19/04/2014 17:33

Google Ida Lupino. She was a phenomenal actress who went on to be one of the first female directors - she was a real trailblazer for women filmmakers. I never really liked the name until I saw her. Her scenes in They Drive By Night (1940) are unforgettable.

CheeseStrawWars · 19/04/2014 17:28

Ada? findingada.com/

Naomi?

squoosh · 19/04/2014 17:22

Congratulations on your new baby!

Claudia is my favourite from your list, by a long way actually. Ida is my least favourite, it's the name of a pinny wearing, 1940's char lady.

pixiestix · 19/04/2014 13:51

Ida is fab. I would use one of your other front runners as a middle name. Ida Matilda, Ida Phoebe or, my favourite, Ida Vivienne.

ThefutureMrsTatum · 19/04/2014 13:46

Agree with pp. Ida rose sounds like "I had a rose"
What about Iris?

wigglylines · 19/04/2014 13:34

OP please don't feel you have to rush this! We named DD when she was two weeks old. I love her name now, I'm pleased we didn't rush it, despite pressure from family!

We tried a different name from the shortlist out each day, for a few days, and that helped eliminate some.

Marcipex · 19/04/2014 11:09

Ida or Claudia Rose, both lovely.

IHaveSeenMyHat · 19/04/2014 11:02

Ida is lovely and really unusual without being made up.

But I'm biased, because I have an Ada Grin

I just love simple, short, un-frilly names like that.

LCHammer · 19/04/2014 10:55

Phoebe or the previous suggestion of April. Although you don't have April roses, a bit early in the year. April Blossom :)

MargotLovedTom · 19/04/2014 10:44

Ida is awful. Old woman on Corrie style, goes well with Hilda, Elsie, Ivy and Ena Wink.

I like Claudia and Matilda.

chillychicken · 19/04/2014 10:35

Phoebe or Matilda for me.

Congratulations!

guineapig2014 · 19/04/2014 10:26

Ida rose is gorgeous

Congratulations!!!

Nestabee · 19/04/2014 10:22

Phoebe Rosemary

Onyabike · 19/04/2014 10:09

Ida Rose just sounds like "I had a Rose" with a London accent to me! I like Phoebe best from your list.

Wishfulmakeupping · 19/04/2014 09:42

Ida Rose is beautiful and unusual by far the nicest of your choices although Olive is sweet also.
I really dislike Matilda and phoebe just not to my taste but go with what you love the most :)
And congrats!

Rtfairy · 19/04/2014 09:41

From your list definitely Matilda Rose. I do like Leila and Olive too x

Yama · 19/04/2014 09:38

I love Claudia.

Matilda and Phoebe would grow on me.

I don't like Ida.

Poughle · 19/04/2014 09:33

What about Rose Ida?

whatsinaname01 · 19/04/2014 09:22

Ida Rose is gorgeous Smile

LynetteScavo · 19/04/2014 09:11

Phoebe Blossom

Allalonenow · 19/04/2014 09:04

Phoebe is my favourite from your list, Matilda is very popular just now, and I'm not keen on Claudia or Ida.

Rose, Mae and Grace are hugely popular as middle names. April would be a pretty middle name for her, or perhaps name her for a loved relative, or Iris for a springtime flower?

Phoebe April would be lovely, but whatever you pick, congratulations on your beautiful daughter. Thanks
