Not a huge problem, but I have a DC with a completely unisex name, you do get the odd "we were expecting a boy" moment. Might annoy some people.

I would hardly call it a problem! In the big picture it is most certainly not a problem Mn is so conservative and frankly weird wrt names

Boy I have one! I am not goingto get into the endless MN debate but eer bullied ridiculed mistaken for girl etc. 19 now and I still love his name as much as when he was born

Girls name for me, i think it sounds feminine, although I know that if it was a boy then Jesse would be the spelling.

Jesse is a traditional British name e.g. Jesse Boot the pharmacist.

Twenty years ago I'd have said Joshua was a quaint, biblical name linked to historical characters e.g. Joshua Tetley the brewer and popular currently only in North America.

Jesse might go the same way, it might not.

Again, I think it's an older tradition; I expect some parents now and in the past just chose Jessie by itself, because it's a pretty name.
I had a great-aunt Jessie. Just Jessie!

Jesse is a boy's name. Girl would be Jess, Jessie or Jessica.

Flora my Scottish relative is just Jessie, I didn't know it could be short for Janet.

Jesse is inded a male name (in the Bible), but up here in Scotland a 'jessie' is a term of abuse for a weak or soppy boy. Not very nice at all, and becoming less popular, but still around.

Also in Scotland, the girl's name Jessie is short for Janet, not Jessica.
