One of the names me and my husband love for our baby if it is a girl is Persephone. However we are struggling with the middle names.

We need two or three middle names. These can be English names or Classical Greek.

I am open to suggestions.

Persephone will become penny which i hate, and am also not keen on a name that has such a negative meaning but if you want to live in ignorant bliss that's your lookout

greek names like this aren't fashionable here but it wouldn't stop me from using one. Popular girls names here are the more common ones and they tend to be more biblical than mythological so Marina, Christina and Sophia and the like. I think Persephone Marina is lovely.

Persephone is gorgeous, but I do think that you're overloading the child with names considering you're doubled barrelled as well. Fair enough if the names mean something to you, but giving a child five for the sake of it seems a bit pointless. I doubt your DD would feel shortchanged if you just stuck to Persephone Marina, which is lovely.

DP has a long double barrelled second name (and we both love Persephone) but we're both wary about going OTT with middle names.

Why so many names? Why so complicated? Are you minor royalty?

Your poor DD will struggle to learn to spell all that, and will spend her life receiving mis-spelled correspondence.

Persephone - lovely name.
I like Athena but obviously it does not go with it.
Jayne is nice - my daughter's middle name too.
Some of the other suggestions already provided were excellent IMHO.

I don't think I would have multiple greek names if not greek. We are English/ greek and our boys have English first name, greek middle, English middle, greek surname

All of our families have a least two middle names.

Marina has to be included as my mummy will not speak to me again. Hmm

I like the combination of the Greek with the English names.

What would you suggest then including Persephone and Marina together?

Gertie your Granny has a fabulous name.

Some all of those are quite a mouthful - if you have no Greek connection do you really want 2 Greek names in a row? Why so many middle names?

drinkingtea I am in Kensington not Greece so have no idea what the fashion for names is over there. I am not really that bothered about what the name means in all honesty.

Persephone Iris Marina Elizabeth

Persephone Alexandrina Frances Rose

Persephone Aoide Aphrodite Gaia

Persephone Helena Marina Elizabeth

Persephone Artemis Marina Frances

We like the above combinations. We will probably have to include Marina (My mums name) as my mum will be put out.

I'm not keen on the name Persephone. I speak Finnish and the word 'perse' means arse in Finnish.

I know an Aurelia - I mispronounced it for the first year - apparently its Ow ray lee ah... anyway its a nicer name IMO - her middle name is Julia though, which might not ne the way you are going (her siblings both have similar name combinations - Adena is her sister...)

I think it's a pretty name, but she'll have to spend 6 months a year in the underworld if she ever eats a pomegranite... is it only me who is swayed hugely about the associations names have? Lily is a grave flower, poppies and blood and they are so short lived...

Annyway - simple middle name if you use Persephone - Anna? Is Persephone in current use in Greece?

It's not just the story/ sad connotations- the actual meaning is also 'bringer of destruction' Your other names are really lovely I think- do you like those less?

I'm with you Puddles. Persephone is my favourite greek myth and DS would have been called this if he'd been t girl. Aurelia would have been my back up and the two actually go well together. 'DD' would have been Persephone Mary.
