One of the names me and my husband love for our baby if it is a girl is Persephone. However we are struggling with the middle names.

We need two or three middle names. These can be English names or Classical Greek.

I am open to suggestions.

I have a friend called Penny and I've just asked her what her name was short for as I had never actually asked and this thread made me intrigued.....

Can you guess what it's short for?? Grin

I like Persephone but agree with those who say that you need a simple middle name.

I have a very 'easy' first and last name but it's constantly mispronounced so I don't think worrying about future correspondence is a good reason to choose a simpler name.

And sorry OP, but the Persephone I know is also known as Penny. Maybe it's the same person angel knows!

How about Aine? Celtic goddess of herbs and healing, short and very pretty. We almost called DD2 this but the DC's vetoed it..

It's an ok name in itself. But along side two middle names and a double barrelled surname it won't fit on forms, she will be 8 before she can pronounce it all and will forever sound like she's choking on a thesaurus.

Please re consider two middle names. What's wrong with something simple and pretty.

Interestingly OP considers herself "Upper Class" as per a previous thread she posted on, yet her use of the English language would seem to suggest otherwise. I personally found her remarks a few months ago about the name Millie-Jo, "Sounds like a child from council estate", hugely inappropriate, plus there are many other remarks from her on numerous other posts that make me cringe.

Go and choose whatever names you like OP, why consider the opinions of a bunch of strangers on the internet, many of whom may possibly - God forbid - live on a council estate!

I don't think anyone should be saddled with such a name. But people can call their chldren what they like. I don't know any. I don't move in those circles.

I think some people will inevitably assume it's pronounced 'percy-phone' but I'd be very surprised if it was as widespread as some people are predicting. It's hardly that unusual.

But people the health visitor screw up my DD's name and thats short and quite popular. One.extra letter in it and more than one person has called her something completely different.
Some.will.cock up any name whatever it is.

Oh and I.live in a working/LMC area with average education. Most people I know would pronounce it correctly. But the buggers would still shorten it to Percy (but we're quite Northern and that would be normal here x)

Persephone is a beautiful name, the majority of people will know how to pronounce it and, if they don't, you tell them how to. Job done.

How about Persephone Marina Helen Surname-surname. Nice mix of English and Greece, not too much of a mouthful, you can fit the majority of it on forms.. :)

Not.critiscizing at all but I think your other middle name choices are a bit long.the last one needs to be one syllable to 'flow' nicely. Are you leaning towards Goddess names all the way through?

It's still a stonkingly ridiculous set of names to give a child. And I live in Kensington too, so I look forward to seeing little kitto (as I shall nickname her) around the area. No I did not angeltulips* I would appreciate if you would stop posting absolute nonsense and I highly doubt you live in the same street as me, since you think the nickname for Persephone is 'Penny' Hmm

Sephy is a much prettier nickname than Percy. Percy is a rosy cheeked man of about 82.
