Just got a faint bfp so jumping the gun a bit. Are Christmas names gross? Any suggestions of some so my DH can veto them?

We liked Gabriel for a boy when we had DD, and more recently Gabriella for a girl.

I'm currently waiting to POAS again to check if my faint bfp and missing AF mean what I think they mean.

If I am pg, we will not be having either of those

There's some lovely names coming through. My DM was born close to Christmas and has a festive name, her sisters also have names associated with the time of year they were born, I've always thought it was a lovely idea, maybe a bit cutsie but they're all in their 70's now with their own lives and families in different parts of the country, it's a nice way of still linking them together as a sibling group.

Not Christmas exactly, but here are some winter themed names...

These all mean 'snow'
Eira (welsh)
Neva (Spanish, pronounced Nay-va)
Lumi (Finnish)
Talini (Inuit for 'snow angel')

Other thoughts for girls

January (if born in that month!)

Paz (Spanish for 'peace')

Lucy, Lucia, Lucien -- all mean 'light', which is a winter and Christian motif.
Clara -- character in the Nutcracker and also linked to the idea of light.

I quite like names linked to times when babies were born. Dd3 was born around Valentines Day & had she been born on the 14th, I would have shoehorned an appropriate name in somewhere

I don't think they're gross at all. I myself would have been Holly if I was born around Christmas time. I think holly, Ivy, noel/noelle, robin . All lovely :)

I was born at Christmas and have the female form of one of the names mentioned on this thread and nobody gets the connection I also know Hollys and ivys born at other times of the year. Point is, do it if you find a name you like and I agree they are great ones. If my parents had looked into the actual meaning of my name they may have chosen differently as I always prefer the fact that it's festive rather than the fact that it's greek for 'victory for the people'
