Love the name Bruno! Is that Spanish for brown?

telsa · 17/04/2014 09:05

Bruno for brown
Rufus for red
Verdi for green
Blanche for white
Grey

Fuchsia too easy to make a rude nickname from.

Lila german for purple.
Rosa german for pink.

Hellrosa is light pink, if you think she'll grow up naughty.

I like colour names, but as DH's last name (and therefore DC's) is also a colour, they just don't work.

Once I actually suggested Olive, still love it too...

weatherall · 15/04/2014 19:28

I've always liked Amber. I think because it has a strong consonant ending.

UniS · 15/04/2014 19:21

I have met
Blue
Topaz
Indigo

Scarlet
Amber
Ruby
Tawnie
Saffron
Jade
Olive
Sienna
Rose

Don't think I know anyone with a green name.

I rather like colour names but gave DS a very traditional English name.

MinimMum · 15/04/2014 18:32

I had a 2x grandma called Fuschia.
I've not heard of it since.

YellowStripe · 15/04/2014 18:30

I knew a family - surname of Brown - who called their son Red .....

True story!

HolidayCriminal · 15/04/2014 18:27

I know Blue as a boy's name.
Rufus is a boy name & a colour.
My black boy cat is called Nero.

Ruprekt · 15/04/2014 18:21

I like Redmond though. Smile

I even like Red tbh.....but with Ruby and Scarlet? Pmsl!

stonygreysoil · 15/04/2014 06:28

thats going beyond a joke ruprekt.

having said that, debating using redmond for a boy, which would probably have Red as a nickname... however that wil conclude the colour scheme in the family.

Ruprekt · 15/04/2014 00:04

Family I know have 3 children called......

Ruby

Scarlet

And RED!!!!!!GrinGrinGrinGrin

The little boy is called Red!

Leeds2 · 15/04/2014 00:02

Sienna?

bouquetofpencils · 14/04/2014 23:45

Carmine is a boys colour name which I would use but DH would veto.

Browne · 14/04/2014 23:30

Saffron is pretty, I've never came across a Saffron either. I adore the name Amber but my last name's a colour so it would just sound daft!

Keilypips · 14/04/2014 22:57

Woah, sorry!

Polonius · 10/04/2014 04:39

I like most colour and gem names. What I don't like are themes. So no more than one jem, colour or flower per family!
