Thoughts on Rupert?

DP loves it, I like it but not sure I can get past the bear association.
What nickname would he have? Also what middle name would work with it?

Love it, but DH vetoed for DS2 on 'posh idiot' grounds Hmm. I have said that if ever have a 4th DS he WILL be Rupert . I don't even have a DS3 currently Grin.

I have known a couple of adult Ruperts who are cool. "Rupes" as a nn.

The only child Rupert I know lives in a former council house going someway to dispel the posh myth.

I don't like it, I'm now singing the theme tune to Rupert the Bear! I also associate it with thick posh blokes, not sure why though! Was there a TV comedy with a Rupert in it?

I like Thomas best from your list, I like Tom as a nn.

I don't mind it, it does have a posh 'vibe' but if you're not posh in any way I doubt it'll matter. Just be careful you don't combine it with a double barreled surname.

I love Jeremy or Jasper but we're double barreled so it'll just sound ridiculous in our very working class northern town.

Henry is my number one name for the boy I will likely never have Grin

Thomas is classic.

Think Jesse is fab but put it together with Lee and it ends up sounding white trash - sorry.

I was going to offer up the army officer thing but was beaten to it. Although it does mean he could never join the army which could be an advantage from a mother's viewpoint.

I love all your names OP. Henry would be my name of choice for my DS. Would also chuck Jasper into the mix.

I have a cousin who is a Rupert and goes by Roo, he is really cool so I think it's a good name.

I LOVE Rupert. It's my favourite boys name. If I'm ever lucky enough to use it, he'll be Rupert Henry.

DH's brother is called Rupert. He's not remotely posh. We briefly considered it for DS2 (went with Leo in the end).

I think that very few people, these days, will think of "the Ruperts" or Rupert Bear. It's a nice name, so if you love it, go for it!

The Rupert I knew at school was only mildly posh, we all called him Rupsy.

Well we're not in the slightest bit posh, would you still think of it that way knowing he's a commoner?

I do love Jesse but don't know if it works very well with our surname Lee.

I've got a posh (ex-Malborough) friend called Rupert that I met at Uni. Lovely bloke. His 3 dc have equally posh names. But Rupert rocks it well!
