Heard this name today and think it is gorgeous! I think it can be short for Hepzibah...which I don't like!

What do you think? I also like Effie but I don't think it sounds great with our surname as it has an f sound in it!

I really like it because of Silas Marner but unfortunately these days it has different connotations and she will be teased because of them.

BobPatSamandIgglePiggle your story is from Silas Marner, and that Eppie was a Hepzibah. A very sweet story, and it's a lovely part of it, but not a good name now I think.

Eppie 'Trophy' sounds like apostrophe.

Effie always makes me think someone is swearing. I wouldn't use it, but especially with 'Trophy' as the surname -- too rhymey.

If your surname starts with a B maybe Aphra would go? Aoife might be better as it's Irish. I could be guessing wrong here however.

Esther is nice (as suggested)
Harriet (nn Etta or Hattie or Hettie)?

My mum used to tell us a atorry called 'eppy in the coal hole' so that was my first thought!

About a little girl who got locked in a coal shed. Will ask her if it was short for anything.

Was watching free-gift DVD of old film last night - The Millionairess, starring Sophia Loren (oh, the frocks!!!). Her character was called Epifania (Epp-ee-FAH-nya). Any use?

I like Eppie, too, but as a nickname not a full name I think. Reminds me of Silas Marner.
