Oscar and Poppy???

These are the names me and my OH have decided on dependant on gender ovbs hahaha! Just wondering what you guys think??? One minute im set on thesr then I want tk change my mind! One indecisive mummy to be hahaha

Poppy is sweet and charming, and poppies are fantastic flowers, but if your daughter wants a career in Europe at any time in the future, a formal birth certificate name as well as a 'home' nickname Poppy might be helpful. Words sounding just like Poppy mean 'dolly' in French and Dutch.

Phillippa on her birth certificate but called poppy at home. I didn't think I'd want to do my job with a cutesy name so we thought we would give her the option.

Went for something different at last minute though!

I like both but I wouldn't use Oscar at the moment, imagine in 7 years when he googles (or whatever we have then) his name and what was happening when he was born? A certain South African trial will be ending soon.

Both nice names but very 'in' at the mo. Dd is 4 and there are three Poppys in her preschool class.

Oscar is very fashionable and may date badly when it falls out of fashion. I prefer more timeless names.

Poppy is a cute nickname for a baby/little girl but I'm not that keen on it for a teenager or adult. Too cutesy for me. How about Penelope?

As a combo I'm afraid I'd expect them to refer to pets (Oscar would be the dog and Poppy the cat).

I'm cuddling an Oscar, right now. It wasn't quite such a popular name, 8 years ago.

A couple across the road have a labradoodle called Oscar. You might want to look for Michael McKintyre's sketch about the name, before deciding :o

both are lovely. poppy actually has a really good "soul meaning" if you look it up. obviously it just literally means flower but if you look up spiritual name association it says that poppy's usually grow up to be very lovely and important strong women indeed

For an adult Poppy I think of actress Poppy Montgomery. I think there are lots of girly names like Poppy,Daisy etc but this is true of past generational names which grow with the person. I like it as a sole classic happy sounding name.
Love Oscar too, again classic but fun sounding name.
