Too matchy-matchy?

Phoebe and Zoe?

Dd1 is Phoebe Helena. The only names DH and I agree on for DD2 are Alice and Zoe. I think Alice is nice but maybe a little bland, but worry that Zoe is too close in sound and origin to Phoebe.

We also liked Elizabeth and Eleanor but I dislike every possible nickname... The middle name might be Joyce.

Any opinions / suggestions?

Zoe is a great choice. Not keen on Joyce...prefer Joy as a nod to your granny.

Zoe Joyce really is good. I like the unusual juxtaposition.

Also, ZJ are great initials.

I actually love the name Alice, but I don't see a problem with Phoebe and Zoe as siblings' names.

Thanks, ladies. I think my wibble is just that we decided on the name quite early on and I'm now worried that I may have missed out on another name, but also the -ee sound at the end might sound a bit twee for two daughters. I'm sure it's fine, and we have lovely reasons for choosing the name. Similar Ishmael would be a great name :)

I really like both Phoebe and Zoe. They kind of sound similar-Ishmael but not close enough to be a problem.

Zoe Joyce sounds fine. And Zoe goes well with Phoebe too. Why the last minute wibbles?

Not so much, no. I know one part of twins, she is Melanie and her twin is Melody. Now that is matchy, matchy.

What about Joy as a middle name?

Joy fits in very nicely with the current trend for virtue names - Grace, Faith etc - as middle names. And of course the meaning is lovely and most appropriate for a new baby.

Not too similar at all - think they complement each other, actually. I once came across a very cool sibset called Zoe, Phoebe and Xanthe.

Alicia Joyce is lovely- if you pronounce Alicia properly. Which most people don't.

Thanks ladies - you converted me but DH isn't convinced. DD1's middle name was the name of my other gran and he's reluctant to have such a clear trend (?) We have five months so I can work on it.

I like it. Not too similar sounds - "Ee Ee" and "Oh E" - however I do prefer Alice to Zoe

I don't think Zoe Joyce doesn't go tbh. After the first couple of days or weeks, you will never say them together. Both my sons have middle names after significant people and it never really crossed my mind to make sure they had a lovely flow - I just checked that the initials didn't make anything rude :)

If you did want a different option what about Jocelynn?

Thanks ladies - Zoe it is! I now need to work round the fact that it doesn't go at alll with my recently deceased gran's name (Joyce) and find a name which is beautiful and which I can claim is linked on very tenuous grounds. Nana would understand :)

Both Greek names, I think they are very nice together ie nice but not 'matching'.

Darcy Bussells children are called Zoe and Phoebe,soit has precedent!
