Anna, Elena, Elsa or Eva?

These are our favourite girls names for DD1 due in June. We have a DS named Harry.

Anna - DH favourite, I do really like it and think it is a classic but maybe a bit plain?

Elena - (pronounced Ellen-ah). DH originally wanted Helena but I don't like Helena & Harry together & really dislike the nn Hells which my 2 friends called Helen get shortened to. I like Elena but think she will spend her life correcting people's pronunciation & spelling of her name.

Elsa - I have liked this for a long time, DH not so keen & MIL positively hates (could be a good reason to choose ha ha!). Also don't want people to think we're copying the princess from Disney's Frozen movie!

Eva - we both like but think it's too popular along with similar names like Ava, Evie.

What do you think?
Thanks! x

Elsa - Was in ny top 3, 8 years ago but dc2 was a ds.

Anna Grin

Elsa is lovely but the frozen link is too strong I think. Everyone knows the character, everyone will think you've copied it if that bothers you. They'll be loads in the next couple of years I bet. Anna is pretty popular anyway so I don't think frozen will affect it too much.

Elsa

Badmumof3 · 25/03/2014 19:24

Anna or Annie. There are a lot of Evie's and Eva's about ( I volunteer with children in schools and guides). Elenor is nice but will be shortened to Els or Ellie. I've got an Ellie and she hates being called Els!

saya11 · 25/03/2014 19:15

But it shouldn't matter any way the names existed way before the movies how else is characters from movies going to get their names :)

saya11 · 25/03/2014 19:12

Isn't Anna from frozen too I haven't seen it so not sure I like Elena though from the list

TheBeautifulVisit · 25/03/2014 08:37

Anna - beautiful

invicta · 25/03/2014 03:44

Anna or Elss

Weegiemum · 25/03/2014 03:33

I like Anna.

What about Elna? It's a classic Nordic name that I love!

FurCoatAndNaeKnickers · 25/03/2014 03:21

All lovely names in my opinion!

But Anna is definitely my favourite.

TessOfTheBaublevilles · 24/03/2014 21:28

Elsa is the standout name, it's beautiful.

ZforZachariah · 24/03/2014 21:13

I like Elsa. It's beautiful. I think Frozen might be a problem though. It's not going anywhere soon, they're doing a broadway production, the merchandising is huge and every little girl wants to be her at the moment.

None of them want to be Anna so that's still usable Grin.

Pinkcustardpurplecustard · 24/03/2014 13:52

Ell-ai-na Elaina

Pinkcustardpurplecustard · 24/03/2014 13:51

Anna and Elsa. Eliana is nice also

TallulahMcFey · 24/03/2014 13:41

I like Elena best. My 11 year old is called Eleanor though (we call her Ellie) so i clearly liked the sound of it. However, I did nearly change my mind last minute as thought it was too popular and at primary we knew v few, but now at secondary we know loads of Ellie's. We know quite a few Eves and Evies too but not Eva. My third child was a boy but I would have called a girl Caitlin.

Feartheescalator · 24/03/2014 13:33

We call her Anna Banana

Emubaby · 24/03/2014 13:33

Love Elsa and Eva. Both gorgeous! How about Anya?

Elfhame · 24/03/2014 12:46

Lottiedoubtie · 24/03/2014 07:57

We have a 2 week old dd called Elena, like the others have said we pronounce it Ell-ay-na, and even then we have already had people unsure how to say it and spell it. It isnt bothering us though and we still love it.

I think Anna off your list. What about Annabel?
