What do you think of 'Darryl' for a girl?

I know of two females called Darryl and also the actress Daryl Hanna. Me and oh really like it. It's not decided, we're just sussing names out right now. What do you think? The thing is, we have a Dylan, Rory and Max. Is Darryl too close to Dylan? Or do you think they're alright together?

I like it but I think when people hear all your dc names together, they will assume you have four boys.

invicta · 25/03/2014 21:38

Love it, and immediately thought of Mallory Towers.

mathanxiety · 25/03/2014 21:35

If you're having a girl after three boys why not give her a name that is clearly a girl's name?

maggiethemagpie · 25/03/2014 20:46

Incidentally, Enid Blyton's husband was called Darrel/Darryl - think that's where the character in the book got her name from! So not sure if it is actually a male/female/unisex name. Personally I quite like it.

magicalmrmistoffelees · 25/03/2014 18:23

*just

magicalmrmistoffelees · 25/03/2014 18:22

I josh think Mallory Towers, but then I have a Felicity!

HarderToKidnap · 24/03/2014 18:29

I know a female Darryl. She has a sister called Earle and one called Plummie.

Darryl for a boy I hate, quite like it for a girl though!

Pinkcustardpurplecustard · 24/03/2014 14:07

Dylan (lovely) is to close to darryl (not lovely. Sorry)

What about something else unisex - Morgan

OpalQuartz · 24/03/2014 11:52

The name Darryl makes me think of a smart, confident, attractive woman with a good career.

OpalQuartz · 24/03/2014 11:49

I really like it.

UriGeller · 24/03/2014 11:47

Don't like it. I know a male Darryl and it always seemed to be akin to Darren, Wayne, Dwayne etc.

I Honestly don't know why you'd give a beautiful baby girl a name like Darryl.

Also, yes its too close to Dylan. What about Dahlia?

Wishfulmakeupping · 24/03/2014 11:47

No not good imo

Cringechilli · 24/03/2014 11:42

I don't like it at all but I think your boys have really nice names.

I think as well, a girl after 3 boys with what sounds like a boys name (Darryl) looks a bit funny? Fwiw I don't like Darryl for a boy either.

Maybe something like Darcey, Dana, Danielle?

Stokey · 24/03/2014 11:29

I like it OP

But I have a name that used to be a boy's name and is now more of a girl's name and did get teased for having a boy's name at school (aged about 7-12)

MrsTilapia · 23/03/2014 18:34

I love it, but DP has vetoed it on the grounds of a boy he used to hate at school.

ThreeBecameFour · 23/03/2014 08:44

I like it

Benchmark · 22/03/2014 20:43

No definitely not

ecuse · 22/03/2014 02:20

Awful. And: Malory Towers.

hunreeeal · 22/03/2014 00:42

Too similar to Darren. It sounds like a 70s boys name.

NadiaWadia · 22/03/2014 00:34

I know there is Daryl Hannah (and Darrell Rivers!) but somehow to me the name just seems quite masculine. I don't like it. Too similar to Dylan, as well, really.

Mireio · 21/03/2014 23:57

It makes me think of Mallory Towers too. I really like Darrell for a girl (this spelling only, I dislike Darryl)

Theonlyoneiknow · 21/03/2014 23:57

I like it, if you and your OH like it use it!

susiedaisy · 21/03/2014 21:58

Don't like it sorry. How about Darla?

Shesparkles · 21/03/2014 21:52

I love it! (And Mallory Towers Blush )

squoosh · 21/03/2014 21:49

I thought of Mallory Towers. She was a bit of a goodie two shoes, pain in the bum.

After that I think of some hard as nails, tattooed woman shrieking 'Oi, are you lookin' at my Darrell?'
