Is it weird to have siblings with the same initial?

I love the names Alice and Flynn for this baby but A and F are the same initials as my other children. Is this something to avoid? Do you like these names?

My parents are both KN, for example. My brother and I are RKN and DKN. It gets a bit confusing when someone phones asking for K Night. You have to ask them do they want Mr or Mrs!

I honestly thought most people thought about this and tried to avoid it. Along with checking what your initials spell (not s t d) and that first and second names go (avoiding mike hunt etc...)

obviously I'm in a minority!

My first two dd's both have the same first name initial, it wasn't intentional just liked the names, though I use there nicknames most the time that have different letters, 3rd dd has a different letter

I have an Alice. She is gorgeous. I also have another daughter who has a different initial. If I have another child and it is a boy he will be Arthur. Definitely just choose the names you like :)

Completely put me off some names.

I wouldn't have same initial as me for our daughter, or same inirial for siblings. It meant we discounted some names we liked. A name is an identifying feature so I don't want to have two A Smiths here!

Also, remember its highly unlikely your children will live together for the rest of their lives. Their names won't be said together for ever by friends, dps, colleagues etc. If you like the names go for it.

My 3 dcs have initials S, E and E and so far it hasn't been a problem.

My grandparents had 5 kids, of which my mum was the eldest by 5 years. There is only one boy, at number 4. The only way I can remember the age/birthday of aunties 2 and 3 is because nan and grandad went:

We have 3 kids, two share the same initial, a boy and girl. We just love their names and the first letter is pronounced differently in each name. It's never been an issue. Still love their names (did I already say that)!

My 3 have the same initial. Only confusing on bank letters when I have to think who is who!:)

My sister, her hubby and their 3 kids all have the same initials. Thats confusing...:)

I have 2 kids with partner ,one of them beginning with A. My partner also has 4 kids from a previous marriage ,and one of them begins with A. They're mum ,partners ex wife ,has had 3 kids since their split and she's named one of them with a name beginning with A. They've all got the same surname as she kept her married name and her recent children didn't take their fathers name. So that's 3 Ms A partners surname ,lol. There's also two beginning with E.

No doubt it'll cause many a confusion at a later date ,lol.

Never bothered DSIS and me, never thought about it until DH mentioned one of my suggestions for DD2 had the same initial as DD1.

My sister and I have the same initials. I found it very frustrating growing up re:post etc but it isn't a huge deal. I then went on to get married so changed my surname and now have different initials but gage traded that in for having exactly the same name ( first, middle and surname) as my sister in law... Sigh

7 kids with same initial would be maybe a tiny bit odd (though, frankly, who cares). Two is absolutely fine.

Unless the initial is X.

My dh and ds have the same first initial, and the name I like for potential ds is also the same, don't care! Dd and I have completely different initials

Dh and ds1 have the same initial - I'm sure he will open ds's post by accident when the time comes, but hey ho, he isn't the type to read it if he did. My dh also has the same initial as his dad - fil once opened a vibrator dh had bought for a stag do (I've never asked why and I don't want to know....), so that was quite embarrassing for them both (dh was mid twenties, living with his parents at the time).

My children have the same initial. We just happened to like two names that started with the same letter. Had DD2 been a boy the initials would have been different. Not a problem at all so far, I think it's really nice actually. And I've saved money on clothing name tapes Grin
