Amelie, slightly different but I love it.

BlackberryandNettle · 14/03/2014 21:15

I much prefer Emilia, not keen on the Eely sound in Amelia, it sounds kind of whiney in my opinion.

Lol was at a Playgroup with about 6 18m-2y old girls today and 4 were called this name !

Reminds me of Emma Gemma Becky when I was at school

Jojay · 14/03/2014 19:43

Amelia

AnythingNotEverything · 14/03/2014 19:42

I know an Emilia who is very definitely an eeee-meee-lee-ya

mrsjrob · 14/03/2014 18:40

Emilia because it's my dds name Grin

BananaHammocks · 14/03/2014 18:33

I'd pronounce them both uh-melia, maybe I'm just lazy, it's the same name with a different spelling so I'd go with the more common spelling. Except I wouldn't as it's THE most popular name at the mo. Yawn.

NadiaWadia · 14/03/2014 17:57

I would choose Amelia of the two, just because I know how to say it! Emilia is more unusual, though.

NadiaWadia · 14/03/2014 17:37

How do you pronounce Emilia? I am never sure. Is it basically the same as Amelia? (uh-meel-eee-uh)? I would want to say eh-mill-ee-uh for Emilia (like you are beginning to say 'Emily' but with different ending. But I could be completely wrong.

AnythingNotEverything · 14/03/2014 17:15

Depends if you would pronounce Emilia as eeeee-melia or em-elia. I prefer the former overall, but if the latter than it's basically the same name as Amelia to me.

FrankUnderwood · 14/03/2014 17:04

I prefer Amelia but both are nice.

Tea1Sugar · 14/03/2014 16:49

We've already chosen and settled on Emilia tbh. I just wanted to see what the Mumsnet jury thinks.

Emilia here (its on my shortlist)

pilates · 14/03/2014 16:35

Emilia

Lulabellarama · 14/03/2014 16:19

Neither or either. It's so ubiquitous that I cannot remember which of the ones I know are which.

NickNacks · 14/03/2014 16:17

Amelia
