Sonny/Sonnie for a girl

I'm kinda guessing the vote on this one but all the same....

Not considering Sunny

My ds is praying for a little boy (named Sonny) which isn't happening....I think it's a beautiful bright name and a girl of any age would appreciate this name

Opinions ( be gentle for the love of God!!)

Ps- for those that plan to say "but it's not a real name" stop right there!! Stop and step away from the keyboard

I love sonny/sunny got a girl but unless you are a rock star or film star I don't think you can get away with it . And I don't think id be brave enough to try Grin

Why would you want to name a middle aged man Sonny?

Hate Sonny/Sonnie for both sexes.

Really like Sunny/Sunnie for a girl.

Sonny was my boys chosen name, had another girl though. In Scotland sonny is a pet name for a boy, like hen is for a girl, so unable to imagine it for a girl, sorry.

Why wouldn't you consider Sunny? Although it sounds the same, at least it looks like a girl's name. To me (an, it would seem, all other posters here) "sonny" just means "little lad". Oh, and there's Sonny and Cher (my other association).
There's Sonya, I guess. Sonny could be a nickname, but at least she's have a recognisable girl's name it she wanted one.

Dd1 wanted to call dd2 Sunshine. She was only 3 though.

I must admit, I quite like Sunny for a girl.

It may sound "cute" to you but it really is not. When she's older she won't thank you for being lumbered with such a moniker; names are so important in life and her life with this name could be made very difficult indeed through teasing and such like. I've only heard it ever used also as a boy's name and that's awful enough.

I'm okay with Sonny for a boy as I know a lovely one but I'd be totally befuddled if I met a girl called Sonny.

I'd probably say 'sorry, what's her name? I thought you said 'Sonny'.

In Ireland Sonny is short for Christopher, it's also a very male mafia name.

I know a boy called Sonny and think it's awful. Please don't call your daughter this.
