I really love this name, should DC3 turn out to be DS3. Does it work for life though, do you think? As a baby, child, teen and adult?

But mama I still don't see why I need to give him/her another name that he/she will not be known by? Why not just use the name you like?

Haha Mama that is so far from OH and I it's quite funny! But I take your points on board Smile

Doesn't really grow with them.

It suits my car though, but he is an old gent.

MamaPain · 08/03/2014 14:22

Oh and I'm really really not part of the full name on the birth certificate brigade, I just don't think this works as a name for any age so the best option might be to find a longer name to use that you can nickname to Monty. Doesn't gave to be Montgomery you could try names that end in Mont.

MamaPain · 08/03/2014 14:19

Sorry to me this is really twee and as others have said really wet.

It just screams private school and saying Mummy and Daddy in your thirties. I can't imagine Monty ever being a cool/tough/attractive young guy. It's a child or older gents name.

insanelycheerful · 08/03/2014 14:18

Fair enough those who passionately hate the name! Wasn't really asking if people like it or not, but whether it's a name that will grow with the child.

Nigellas you make a good point. I can't imagine ever using Montgomery or Montague so think would just go with Monty.

I know MN always seems to say you have to give a full version as the official name, but as someone who has always been known as a shorter version of their longer name and found it a real pain that I have an official name on forms, passports etc but which doesn't feel like anything to do with me and my "real" name, I don't really see the point!

So I need to be sure that Monty is a name that will grow and last with him.....

It's awful IMHO. Very wet.

EyelinerQueen · 08/03/2014 13:58

Awful. Just bloody awful.

One of the ultimate wet toff names.

Withnail

I don't like it at all.

This may have something to do with how much Monty Don irritates me.

Also know a horrible woman with a child called Monty. Child is cuteness itself, but somehow she and the blue jacketed gardener have ruined it.

NigellasDealer · 08/03/2014 13:26

hmm i did know a Monty, short for Montgomery, the latter sounds a bit pretentious, and the former nice for a little boy or even teen but what then?
