I like this but is it a bit common now due to the model cara delevigne?

I know a Cara, aged 11. Think it is lovely. Never heard of Cara Deleviegne.

BumpNGrind · 09/03/2014 22:24

I have a friend called Cara and she's fun and lovely, in Welsh the word 'caru' means to love and the Welsh name Cari is also lovely. I think either name is perfect depending on potential middle names.

DumSpiroSpero · 09/03/2014 19:44

Beautiful. My mum used to use it occasionally as a shortening of my full name.

I love it Smile .

Chloerose75 · 09/03/2014 19:37

Trooperslane · 09/03/2014 19:16

It was on our list.

We went with Cara with an L :)

florascotia · 09/03/2014 19:13

About Gaius (Gye-us) - it was the first name of Roman leader Julius Caesar and he was a very interesting character....

Will it be an issue that in some places 'Caius' (the English form of Gaius) is pronounced 'Keys'?

shesaidgleeba · 09/03/2014 17:11

thi is on our shortlist too, we also like Cora

Best1sWest · 09/03/2014 13:09

I know a 16 year old Cara. She's gorgeous and it's a lovely name. I also like Cari which is a welsh version of the name.

EyelinerQueen · 09/03/2014 12:52

The second one Simply. Car(automobile)-ah.

SimplySara · 09/03/2014 12:50

Is Cara pronounced Care-a or more like Car(i.e. automobile)-a? I never know how to say it!

MoominsYonisAreScary · 09/03/2014 09:49

My names kara, i dont know any others

CleverOl10 · 09/03/2014 09:44

The only Cara I know is 40! So don't think it's that popular today, but it is nice.

Orangeisthenewbanana · 09/03/2014 08:57

It's on our list (DH's suggestion actually!). I only know one, and she's in her 30's. Never even heard of the supermodel!

dancemom · 09/03/2014 08:51

I'm in Scotland and know a Cara, a Kara and a few variations such as Kiara!

crazylady2013 · 09/03/2014 08:48

My name is Caragh (silent "gh"). The spelling has confused people but I haven't minded having the name and never knew anybody with the same name (even the different versions).

sleepingbeautiful · 09/03/2014 05:22

I have a small one, and we know 1 adult, 1 teen and 1 other small. Only had compliments, but maybe I just don't know enough blunt/rude people ;)

EyelinerQueen · 08/03/2014 18:52

Re: Italian names I've always loved Chiara. So pretty.

Glasshammer · 08/03/2014 18:50

Clara is also nice

winterhat · 08/03/2014 18:47

It's a lovely Italian name. Much clearer-sounding than Clara.

pommedeterre · 08/03/2014 18:12

We are considering it if dc3 is a girl!

For us with a c and thinking of the Italian connotation.

Dont know any others!

wigglesrock · 08/03/2014 14:27

I live in NI & know about 7 Caras under 5.

It's a lovely name.

Topaz25 · 08/03/2014 13:56

Gaius?christ no.sounds like gallus

Hadn't heard of gallus before lol. That's interesting. We're not in Scotland though so I don't think it will be a problem and the middle part of the name is different.
