Hi everyone,

It's my first time on here but really keen to hear your thoughts. We're expecting our first baby soon, not sure if it's a boy or a girl. We've got plenty of lovely girls names but stuck on boys names!

Our two favourites are...

Myles and Roscoe

If we have a boy we're wondering if we should call him Myles Roscoe or Roscoe Myles.

Any thoughts?

My head said "P Coltrane" as soon as I saw this listed in active convos. Actually "Pekoe Train" as I was a child at the time and never worked it out.

That said, how many of DS peers will be familiar with Dukes of Hazzard and will it still be around once he had grown up? DM gave me exactly the same name as an authoress of the time. Up until I was 7 or 8 older people would look at me and say "what, as in the writer?" but it was never mentioned at school and these days no one has even heard of her.

I'd think of the tennis player.

I love Roscoe - it's the name of a song by one of my fave bands Midlake- American beardy band, about a woodcutter in 1891 - video on YouTube - hope that doesn't put you off Smile

I'd never have thought I'd like it but actually it's fab, isn't it? Especially when you say it out loud.

Same as Germgirl. Yeehaw!

PeterParkerSays · 06/03/2014 12:15

I like Roscoe - reminds me of the DJ shows age

Not mad keen on Myles so Roscoe Miles - Roscoe is hard enough to spell without an middle name that's a variation on the more usual spelling.

I love it.

But then again I am a Dukes of Hazzard fan and love cowboy names in general.

Most people won't be ad old as me and therefore will have no memory of Roscoe P Coltraine !

Floggingmolly · 06/03/2014 12:15

If I heard someone call "Roscoe", I'd expect to see a dog come bounding up. Sorry.

Germgirl · 06/03/2014 12:15

I like Myles but Roscoe just makes me think of the Dukes of Hazzard sheriff Roscoe P Coltrane. (Said in a very twangy American accent)

What does it mean?
