If we have a boy, we're thinking of calling him Roscoe...

Hi everyone,

It's my first time on here but really keen to hear your thoughts. We're expecting our first baby soon, not sure if it's a boy or a girl. We've got plenty of lovely girls names but stuck on boys names!

Our two favourites are...

Myles and Roscoe

If we have a boy we're wondering if we should call him Myles Roscoe or Roscoe Myles.

Any thoughts?

Roscoe is a name given to some dog's, as are Oscar, Max and Oliver. Doesn't mean humans can't also be given these names.

Yep, Roscoe is a dogs name. I think one of the rescues had a red Staffie called that recently.

I like Myles, esp with that spelling, but Roscoe is just Roscoe P Coltrane Dukes of Hazard styleeee!

My friends surname is Roscoe and her sons name is myles.
Myles Roscoe
So for me that would be the choice but Roscoe is and always will b a surname for me and not nearly as nice as some of the other surname as first names which have shot up in popularity. X

Not keen on either, sorry.
Roscoe doesn't seem like a 'proper' name - maybe too american / 'slang' sounding?
And Myles is spelt Miles is it not?

Roscoe is a great name! I prefer Roscoe Myles.

There is a roscoe roundabout near here... I think the name should be reserved for roundabouts and dogs.

Roscoe sounds really cool actually. If Oscar and Leo can be popular, surely Roscoe can join in.

But personally I like Myles Roscoe.

It's Miles, not Myles.
And, yes, Roscoe sounds like a dog's name.

No- his teachers will say have you seen my class list? I've got a Roscoe. Does Myles need a Y? Miles is fine.

We had Roscoe on our shortlist for ds. We liked it because of the Midlake song (kaizen Grin) but the thought of it being shortened to 'Ross' really put us off. Great name if you can handle him being called Ross half the time.

I thought Roscoe P Coltrane too but as Baroness said, fewer and fewer people are going to make that connection. And yes, it sounds good.

I know a Ross who gets the nn Roscoe. Tbh Ross is a name enough it doesnt need the exrra
